Did you know that you getting more sleep can lead to reduction in stress in your practice and potentially even increased case acceptance?

Did you know that rest is more than sleeping?
There are 7 types of rest according to physician and author of the book, "Sacred Rest: Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy, Restore Your Sanity".
- Physical Rest: Includes both passive rest (sleeping, napping) and active rest
- Mental Rest: Involves calming an overactive mind, often through scheduled breaks and mindfulness practices.
- Spiritual Rest: Relates to a sense of belonging and purpose, which can be fostered through community involvement, prayer, or meditation.
- Emotional Rest: Allows individuals to express their feelings openly and authentically, reducing the burden of emotional labor.
- Sensory Rest: Involves reducing sensory input from screens, bright lights, and background noise to prevent sensory overload.
- Social Rest: Focuses on spending time with supportive and energizing people rather than those who drain energy.
- Creative Rest: Encourages the appreciation of beauty and inspiration from nature and the arts, helping to rejuvenate creative capacities
If you are looking for effective and holistic ways to reduce stress and avoid burnout, it's imperative that you get as much REST as you need. Mondays will never look the same again once your invest in yourself and get quality rest.
All of them.

Do you need rest from creativity? The answer, according to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, is yes.
Dr. Saundra recently authored the book, “Sacred Rest: Recover Your Life, Renew Your Energy and Restore Your Sanity.” Her research shows that rest is essential and more complex than just prioritizing sleep. In her book, she shares that there are 7 (yes, 7!) types of rest we need to function optimally. And she says many of us are clearly deficient in one or two areas.
Because of how energizing creativity can be, people overlook the need to take a break from it. We can get it by appreciating beauty in whatever form. Dr. Saundra says it can come from mountains, art, theater or dance. But she also shares one surprising fact about how to get creative rest without doing any of that 💡

From my latest blog: “Here's my question: What do you make of your brown, grey and purple days? The slow, low days, the nothing moves today days and the sad, groan and drag my tail days?
Please don't tell me you never have days like that, because Dr Seuss is right, these different moods are all just part of being me.”
