"Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. unaware that the #Nature he is destroying is this #God he is worshipping." - Hubert Reeves This powerful quote reminds us of the paradox we face today. In our relentless pursuit of progress, we often overlook the #cost—#our #planet. The #climate is changing rapidly, global #temperatures are rising, and our actions are driving countless species to extinction. Every #tree we cut down, every #animal we drive away, brings us closer to a tipping point. We must wake up to the reality that #Nature is not separate from us; it is an intrinsic part of who we are. By #destroying the #environment, we are, in essence, destroying our future. Our #survival depends on the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the biodiversity that sustains life. It’s time to stop and reflect. We need to shift our mindset from #exploitation to #preservation. Each of us has a role to play in combating #climatechange and promoting #sustainability. Let’s take a stand for our planet. Plant a tree, reduce your #carbonfootprint, support conservation efforts, and advocate for policies that protect our environment. The future of humanity depends on the choices we make today. #ClimateCrisis #GlobalWarming #Sustainability #EnvironmentalJustice #Conservation #Biodiversity #EcoAwareness #ProtectNature #ActOnClimate #SaveThePlanet

Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay, and we are giving spotlight to land restoration and drought resilience as solutions against the desertification and the further degradation of our planet. “𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 #𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.” The climate crisis and biodiversity loss are worsened by mining and land conversion activities, which disproportionately affect Indigenous Peoples and local communities. To address these issues, we need massive restoration efforts, which are crucial for humanity's survival. Forests play a vital role in maintaining biodiversity, regulating water cycles, and supporting the livelihoods of 1.6 billion people, including 60 million Indigenous communities (IUCN, 2020). However, it is not just about preserving forests as tools for restoration; it is also recognizing the inherent knowledge and connection that Indigenous Peoples and local communities have with their land, which is essential for meaningful restoration and rehabilitation efforts. "We acknowledge our ancestors who have walked before us, and we hold our responsibilities to those who will follow us as sacred... We recognize and thank the Indigenous Peoples on whose lands we meet today," (Api-api Declaration, 2022) By reclaiming their #TerritoriesofLife, they can breathe life back into our forests and restore the balance of our ecosystems, that have thrived under their care since time immemorial.

Forests + Indigenous = Life 🌳 One of the most important equations in the world right now, if you believe in science. The data is clear: Indigenous cultures nurture and protect the world’s forests better than anyone. And high integrity, high biodiversity forests are the fastest, cheapest and most beautiful carbon absorbing climate technology on the planet. Or put more naturally: In the Indigenous embrace of the forest, every tree is sacred; every branch a new chapter, every seed a whisper of hope and healing. Where Indigenous Peoples have been removed from their lands, deforestation always follows. Indigenous peoples have always understood what many of us have forgotten: land isn’t something you own, it’s something you belong to. For thousands of years, they’ve cared for these forests, mountains, and rivers, protecting the ecosystems that sustain all life. But in just over two centuries, much of that wisdom has been pushed aside, and the land has been stripped of its trees. Look at the maps👇 How did we go from Indigenous peoples caring for an entire continent to fragments of land and forests barely holding on? If we want to truly address the climate crisis and protect what remains of our natural world, we need to learn from those who have done it sustainably for generations. 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘁, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗮 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. The old-growth forests are vanishing. It’s time to stop repeating the same mistakes and turn to Indigenous-led conservation, where balance with the Earth has always been the priority. #indigenousknowledge #protectforests #listentoindigenousvoices #trees #giftsustainably
