The Irony of Hiring in the AI Age: A Tale of Ghosted Hopes and AI Accusations! Isn’t it ironic? Here we are, in 2024, where brands proudly post “We’re hiring!” announcements and detailed job descriptions – all generated by AI. Yet, they’re on the hunt for human writers who stick to traditional methods. The kicker? After reviewing CVs with three-plus years of solid experience, they demand sample write-ups and then… drumroll, please… reject them with the accusation: “Your content is AI generated!” “Lagta hai joke hai boss!” **me thinking to myself** Imagine this: you’ve crafted every word of your portfolio carefully, only to be told it lacks the human touch. Oh, the sweet irony! And let’s not forget the cherry on top. Most HR departments don’t even bother with a rejection message or email. Instead, they choose the ghosting route, leaving candidates clinging to shreds of hope like confetti after a party. “Aap chronology samajhiye!”😅 Here's a point to ponder: if a candidate’s portfolio already includes work samples and reference contacts, what's the real need for an additional work sample or assignment? Help us understand the logic behind requesting more work, only to reject it with the same AI accusation, and then turning around to post yet another AI-generated job description. “Yeh kya ho raha hai bhai?” 🤔 **screaming inside** Here’s a thought – if brands took a moment to actually verify the portfolio in front of them, maybe, just maybe, they’d recognize genuine talent. “Kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna!” So, what’s your take on this paradoxical hiring landscape? 🌟 The Power of Language 🌟 Many years ago, I was closed by a CEO with one word. He said he was excited about the opportunity to work with me, rather than saying he was looking forward to me working for him. This choice of words sealed the deal, especially as I was joining as a junior consultant. In competitive markets like AI and data, how you communicate with candidates can make all the difference. A-players often have multiple offers. Here are a few examples: • Instead of telling a candidate you've selected them, say you want to present them with an offer. This small shift can make candidates feel valued. • Focus on how your words and actions make candidates feel. A positive experience can be the difference between them accepting or not. • Don’t just send an offer letter. Take the time to call them and discuss the offer in detail. This shows you care and are invested in their future with your company. I've helped many clients recently adapt their recruitment strategies.
