✨ What a privilege it was to present the Dennis Clifford Humanitarian Award to the Hon. John Howard OM AC at our gala this year. This award, established in honor of Dennis Clifford, recognizes individuals whose compassion and service bring hope and dignity to those in need. Dennis, alongside his wife Judy, dedicated his life to helping others, showing respect and compassion that uplifted countless lives. Mr. Howard embodies this legacy through his leadership in expanding mental health resources for rural communities, promoting Indigenous employment, addressing family violence, and introducing landmark gun control reforms that set a global standard. Through his leadership, Mr. Howard has illuminated countless lives, embodying the spirit of hope and humanity that this award celebrates. We thank Mr. Howard for his dedication to making Australia a better, safer, and more inclusive place. 🌟 #JewishHouse #HumanitarianAward #JohnHoward #MakingADifference

The Role of Different Sectors in the Peacebuilding Process 8. Community-Based Organizations Local Peace Committees: These organizations work at the local level to resolve disputes, build trust, and foster community cohesion. They play a key role in addressing the everyday challenges of living in a post-conflict society. By organizing local peace councils and facilitating community-driven initiatives, these organizations help create sustainable peace at the grassroots level. Reintegration Programs: Community-based organizations support the reintegration of former combatants into society, helping them to transition to civilian life and preventing the resurgence of violence. Through vocational training, education, and psychosocial support, these programs assist ex-combatants in finding productive roles in their communities.

Water and justice Water. It flows through the oceans, the rivers, the channels. It can move along its way peacefully, or sometimes it can overpower the land. It'll conquer what it can, whatever crosses its path. Here in the Netherlands, and in so many more countries, we fight to keep the water out, to keep it within its bounds, to make it move according to our wishes. This approach makes sense for water. But when we use its symbolism to paint how people create bounds for other people, how they decide for other people, the story takes a more drastic turn. When talking about slavery and human trafficking, we talk about people thinking they get to have power over another person, as if people were some natural resource that we get to tame, like water. By robbing people of their free choice, they're kept in bondage and made to please some self-proclaimed ruler. My reason for pointing all this out here, is to bring IJM's work under your attention. My business partners with IJM, International Justice Mission, to play my part in supporting the fight against slavery, human trafficking and other forms of exploitation. Why do I want to be IJM's business partner? In an earlier post, I described some of the core values I strive towards with my business WaterHealthPlanet. Many of those values come down to freedom, a balanced life, wellbeing and caring for one another. These values that I consider fundamental are entirely lacking in the context of modern slavery. That hits me hard. That complete injustice compels me to want to work towards a better big picture, much further than my own little bubble of wellbeing and my WaterHealthPlanet network, returning freedom and wellbeing to those further away. Caring for each other is not just a pretty saying, actual involvement and action can make it a beautiful reality. IJM fights this fight on three fronts: - Freeing people from those who think they have some sort of claim over them, - Finding suitable ways to help these oppressed people reclaim their life by providing trauma care, - Fighting the offenders, by aiding the government in catching them and improving legal systems. Unmistakably indispensable work! Will you help fight the fight? On the 35th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (#CRC35), children worldwide are demanding accountability, prevention and protection for the 470 million children affected by war and 30 million displaced. By #StompingForPeace, we want to hold leaders accountable for breaking international laws and ensure that children are involved in decisions about their futures and peacebuilding efforts. We aim to prioritise conflict prevention and uphold children’s rights, ensuring they are protected from the devastating impact of war. We also call for guaranteed access to essential care, including food, shelter, healthcare and the reunification of families who have been separated by conflict. Together, we can work for a safer future where every child's rights are respected and their voices are heard! #CRC35 #WorldChildrensDay

Today on the anniversary of the National Apology to the Stolen Generations, ALHR recognises the resilience of First Nations peoples, communities and culture. We acknowledge the loss, pain and profound suffering endured by so many families and communities torn apart through the forced removal of children. We urge all governments across Australia to acknowledge that systems which continue to remove First Nations children from families, culture and country are broken systems through which Australia continues to gravely violate #childrensrights. We call on all jurisdictions across Australia to urgently support and adequately fund the implementation of First Nations led, culturally-safe solutions that enable children to grow up safely, loved and protected in their communities. Today and every day, we commit to walking in solidarity with First Nations people in their struggle for truth-telling, reconciliation, self-determination and the enjoyment of their internationally recognised #humanrights Sorry means you do not continue to create stolen generations. Sorry means action behind symbolism #nationalsorryday #auslaw #auspol

"As we actively celebrate the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all humanitarian aid organizations, Civil Society Organizations, and individuals who are passionately fighting against all forms of GBV. Your tireless efforts in awareness raising, advocacy, capacity building, medical response, and economic empowerment are truly commendable. You are the unsung heroes who brave the odds to support survivors of GBV. Thank you for your remarkable resilience. As we continue to fight against GBV, I have been reflecting on the critical role of positive intentional parenting and child upbringing in curbing all forms of GBV in society. Parents are the first point of contact for these young minds, and we are their first role models. We have the opportunity to model positive values such as love, respect, and empathy to our children. Conversely, we can also inadvertently model violence and negative behaviors. As we strive to create a society free from GBV, let us be intentional about instilling positive values in our children. By doing so, we can empower future generations to become agents of change and promote a culture of respect, empathy, and non-violence. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all." #Writer #SpokenWordArtist #Poet #TheVoiceOfSolace #YouthActivitist #IntentionalAboutYouths
