Providing education and support for children that suits their needs is a big part of the solution to ensuring young people are engaged, well, able to think about the future and diverted from crime. QCOSS members like YMCA Queensland, Carinity and Edmund Rice Education Australia Flexible Schools Ltd are having great success with alternative education and want to see it expanded to assist more children - the demand is there, we just need the resources. As Head of Wellbeing Stephanie Blunt from YMCA Queensland puts it in this package: "We always see behaviour as a language and we want to understand what they're struggling with." Alignment is a crucial factor to make the most of external aid to education. When funding is not aligned to national systems and contexts, it causes inefficiencies and fragmentation, which means that less external funding actually makes it to children, teachers and schools. It also undermines accountability and ownership, which are necessary to create sustainable and lasting change. GPE promotes alignment of aid with partner countries' systems as part of its commitment to transform education systems. Get an overview of how alignment works and why it matters for #TransformingEducation 👇

The Strengthening Families Protecting Children (SFPC) programme, which aims to enhance family support and reduce children entering care, recently completed its fifth and final year. In this article, Essack Miah looks at the lessons shared by leaders in the children’s social care sector on what it takes to maintain sustainability, foster a positive culture, and nurture partnerships - all essential pillars for continuing the impactful work of the SFPC programme. An estimated 87 million children under the age of 8 have spent their whole lives in conflict, crisis, and emergency settings. A new Guidance Note provides tools and resources to support the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of quality, multi-sectoral, inclusive ECDiE interventions. CE International is proud to have collaborated with the Inter-agency Network for Education in Emergencies (INEE) to develop this Guidance Note, and we hope it will be widely used to improve #ECDiE worldwide. Learn more and access the Guidance Note at https://lnkd.in/e9FnmVde Image description: A graphic showing the cover of the Guidance Note, which includes a photo of teachers in a classroom with young children.
