Trinnov Audio #WaveForming requires additional channel to drive each subwoofer directly to have full control. For smaller setups with an Altitude 16, the +4 option comes in handy that adds 4 additional channel to the 16 standard outputs. As the two 2 channel digital outs are utilized for that, you need digital to analog converters (DAC) to make them available for analog chains. We use DAC´s from RME, a small German manufacturer for high performance audio equipment for these scenarios. There are cheaper options, but we believe that a Trinnov Altitude deserves to be paired with equivalent hardware.

Even when armed with the correct mathematical formula for synthesizing the ultrasonic signal, the ultrasound still needs to be reproduced accurately. High-fidelity audio requires high-fidelity ultrasound. 🔊 This presented a formidable challenge to Holosonics, as the only transducers commercially available were the common sonar-style piezoelectric devices, used in the prototypes of the earlier researchers in this field. While these can create ultrasound, and can be used to generate audio, the bandwidth is quite limited, and fidelity of ultrasound - and therefore audio - is abysmally poor. This was one major reason that no other company has ever had a successful product in this market. Holosonics developed its own custom, proprietary transducer technology to address these difficulties. Based on a thin moving film, rather than piezoelectric ceramics, the transducer is light, inexpensive, extremely efficient, and has unmatched ultrasonic bandwidth and fidelity. 🎶 Old but gold 🪙 Very interesting application of popular #audio #power #amplifier LM1875 as a composite amplifier 👌🏻 LM1875 and especially LM3875, LM3876 and LM3886, the higher-powered versions, were perhaps the most popular audio amplifier ICs in the #DIY world 😃 I wonder how many pieces of these Overture ICs were produced by National Semiconductor just for DIY designs 😁 This popular amplifier was called #Gainclone. 💡 What do you think of this Mu amplifier? ⚡ The gain of this audio amplifier, known as the Mu or µ amplifier is a function of the forward transconductance and the output conductance of the JFETs used. The higher the forward transconductance and lower the output conductance, the higher the voltage gain. Lower output conductance is a function of the gate-to-source biasing. Biasing near zero volts produces the highest conductance and near the Vgs(off) specification the lowest conductance.
