My journey into this world began long before I consciously made the decision to become a fashion designer. My mom was a seamstress, and I remember spending countless days with her at work when schools were closed. While I loved the treats the other ladies would give me, it was the process that truly captured my heart—the transformation of a simple piece of fabric into a 3D object that meets one of our most basic human needs: protection from the elements. As the middle child, I often ended up with hand-me-downs, which sparked my creativity early on. I would take those used garments and find ways to make them my own, altering them to fit me both physically and stylistically. These moments were more than just childhood experiences; they were the foundation of my passion for fashion. Each one slowly prepared me for the incredible industry I’m now a part of. I've tried my hand at other creative pursuits—working as a stylist, teaching, and even spending time in retail—but each of these roles only served to guide me back to fashion. It was as if all the paths I took, no matter how different, were leading me back to where I truly belong. Every day, I wake up inspired by the world around me, whether it's the good or the bad. It's the creativity within me that brings light and happiness to my life, and that creativity is fueled by the world of fashion. This is where I’m meant to be, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. International visitor numbers double at Intertextile Apparel... After three days of facilitating cross-border business across the show floor, fringe events, and various Spring / Summer 2025 fashion forums, the Intertextile Apparel Shanghai closed doors on 8 March. Following the government’s easing of visa requirements, the over 3000-supplier showcase saw a 22.9% increase in international exhibitors compared to the previous Spring Edition. Welcoming nearly 90,000 visitors from 116 countries and regions, international visitor numbers rose by 99% at this year’s show, with a higher than usual 87% returning on Days 2 and 3 signifying considerable sourcing intent.
