It’s #CSTE Stories from the Field Day! Today, Ohio Department of Health shares how their use of cross-cutting epidemiologists and flexible informatics capacity enabled them to more successfully monitor cases and contacts during multiple public health disease events over the past five years, including mpox, measles, and highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). ODH epidemiologists funded through Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for the Prevention and Control of Emerging Infectious Diseases (ELC) program utilized REDcap, a free, customizable, web-based tool to build projects tailored for gathering and monitoring data and contacts specific to each event. Having epidemiology staff who were able to respond across diseases and using a customizable platform were critical to successful monitoring efforts and disease prevention activities.
