“Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life”… we’ve all heard it. But the reality is, when you do what you love, you work harder than ever—because your passion pushes you to give it your all, every single day. Over the past 6 months, I’ve hosted my Women Who Lead Mastermind Dinners with some of the most inspiring women I know—female entrepreneurs and leaders who are navigating the many hats we wear. As entrepreneurs, it can often feel like we’re walking this path alone. The honest, deep conversations around our struggles, our wins, our investments, and even our failures don’t happen nearly enough. And I realized, if I couldn’t find these spaces, I would create one myself. These dinners are solely focused on us as women in business—on the unique challenges and triumphs that come with being both entrepreneurs and leaders. It’s a space to celebrate the highs, share the lessons from the lows, and connect with others who truly understand what it’s like. The response has been overwhelming, showing me how many of us are craving this kind of support and connection. We had an amazing night this week celebrating entrepreneurship at the Burlington Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala. As a nominee for the Women in Leadership award we are proud to be a company powered by estrogen 🤣 both at our Head Office in Burlington and by our over 1100 Stylists across Canada. That’s a whole lot of girl power.💪🏼 A big shoutout to ALL the amazing women who were nominated and to Ashley Deland on her win. 👏👏👏 Keep leading by example and making waves in your industries! What does being a Woman in Leadership mean to me? It means working to ensure that ALL women have the same opportunity. Why do we still slap the label ‘woman’ in front of ‘entrepreneur’? It’s almost as if people are still surprised that women can build businesses, scale them, and lead with confidence. Spoiler alert: We have been doing it all along. The game is changing, and it’s about time we drop the qualifiers. We are not just women entrepreneurs—we are entrepreneurs, period. Curious about What NOT to do as a woman entrepreneur to excel in business? Yesterday, I had the privilege of addressing over 100 incredible women at the BNI meeting, sharing insights on navigating the business world. “If women are asked to be support, you turn out to be Sudha Murty If asked to work, you become Indra Nooyi If asked to be silent, you turn to be Sharada Devi If asked to be active, you turn out as Shakuntala Devi!” How can we train? You are excellent. But here are a few nuggets for what not to do in business as women: 1. *Networking* is NOT to sell but to build relationships and trust. 2. Don’t do the following: Explore - evaluate - execute. Do the reverse: Start executing first, then evaluate, and then explore. 3. Stop being a perfectionist. Progress over perfection is the key. Remember, success comes not just from what we do, but also from what we choose not to do.
