CFA Guide to Contract Flooring SITE CONDITIONS & ATTENDANCES ; So that floorings can be kept in the room and brought to room temperature (acclimatised) before installation. It is equally important to maintain those temperatures for 24 hours after installation or until the adhesive has cured. With fully flexible vinyl’s and linoleums flexibility is important for a good and safe installation. At low temperatures these floorings will harden up making them difficult to apply and with rolls of floorings, difficult to unroll (without cracking) and achieve a satisfactory lay-flat condition. In all cases, the minimum subfloor surface temperature should be no less than 10°C. It is essential with most floor coverings that they are laid in the same humidity conditions as would be expected to be prevalent in use. Temporary heating equipment which may be used to warm buildings to achieve the required temperature can also increase the humidity to a markedly higher level than would normally be expected. Also, turning off heaters at night in cold weather will lead to condensation as the air cools, causing water pooling on the surface of the floor. #building #buildingconstruction #buildingcontrol #construction #constructionindustry #constructionmanagement #constructionnews #constructionprojects #flooring #flooringsolutions #flooringinstallation

Before You Lay Your Floors, Make Sure to Protect Them! One of the most critical steps in building construction is anti-termite treatment before flooring. If you're planning to install new floors, it’s essential to safeguard your structure from termite damage right from the foundation. WE USE CHLORPYRIFOS 20% EC FOR THIS TREATMENT, MIXING 1 LITRE OF THE CHEMICAL WITH 19 LITRES OF WATER. THIS POWERFUL SOLUTION CREATES A PROTECTIVE BARRIER THAT KEEPS TERMITES AT BAY, ENSURING THE LONGEVITY AND STRENGTH OF YOUR BUILDING. Why is this important? Termites are silent destroyers. They attack the foundation and structure of buildings, causing severe damage over time. By treating the soil beneath your flooring with this mixture, you not only prevent infestation but also save yourself from costly repairs in the future. This step might be hidden beneath the surface, but it plays a vital role in the durability of your home or building. So, don’t skip it—ensure the longevity of your structure with the right termite protection. Lay your floors with peace of mind, knowing you’ve taken the first step in building a termite-free foundation! #constructiontips #buildingsafety #homesafety #construction #civilengineering #termitetreatment #floorwork

During a RICS Home Survey exposure work is not carried out unless agreed with the property owner. However, sometimes it is possible to insert my hygrometer probe into a floor void via a hole in the floor where pipes or services have passed through the floor. In this instance, there is a relative humidity of 94.1%. This is due to a lack of ventilation to the underfloor void giving rise to high humidity in the underfloor void and raised resistance (damp) meter readings effecting the external and internal walls due to water condensing on the walls above the damp proof course within the underfloor void and rising by way of capillary action. This will have an adverse effect on the fabric of the building such as timber floor members, skirting boards and internal decoration. Chemical Damp Proof Course injection is not required nor waterproof render, what is required is simply reinstating the ventilation to the underfloor void and restoring the original moisture equilibrium. What does a good roof installation look like? A good roof installation is characterized by meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail, ensuring both functionality and longevity. It begins with thorough preparation, including the removal of old materials and inspection of the underlying structure for any damage or decay that needs repair. High-quality underlayment is installed to provide an additional layer of protection against moisture. The shingles or roofing material are then precisely laid out, with proper alignment and adequate overlap to prevent leaks. Flashings are expertly fitted around roof penetrations like chimneys and vents to further guard against water intrusion. Ventilation is carefully integrated to maintain airflow and regulate temperature, preventing issues like mold growth and ice dams. The finished roof should not only look uniform and aesthetically pleasing but also demonstrate robustness, with all elements securely fastened and no visible gaps or irregularities. A good installation also includes a thorough cleanup of the site and a comprehensive inspection to ensure everything meets the highest standards. Do you know your roof absorbs a massive amount of heat from the sun each day, so the material it's made of can have a big impact on indoor temperatures? 🤔 Here are the top 3 roof materials to help insulate your home from the summer heat: 👇🏻 1️⃣ Metal Roofing 🟡 With a high SRI (solar reflectance index), metal roofs are one of the coolest options. ✅ They reflect over 80% of sunlight, keeping less heat in your attic. 2️⃣ Asphalt Shingles 🟡 Modern asphalt shingles are formulated to resist heat better than older styles. ✅ They provide good insulation for an affordable option. 3️⃣ Tile Roofing 🟡 Clay or concrete roof tiles are naturally heat resistant. ✅ Their angular shapes create air pockets for improved insulation against hot sun. With the right roof, you'll stay comfortable inside all season long.
