The results are in! 1300+ industry professionals, from developers to business leaders, were surveyed on how they're using AI agents today. But the most interesting aspect was the evolving expectations and challenges organizations face as they bring AI agents into their workflows: - Managing multistep tasks: Agents are more capable of deeper reasoning and context management, allowing them to handle more complex tasks. - Automating repetitive tasks: AI agents continue to be viewed as essential for automating administrative tasks that can free up time for users to engage in more creative problem solving. - Task routing & collaboration: Better task routing ensures that the right agent handles the right problem at the right time — especially in multi-agent systems. Many wonder how to orchestrate tasks and collaborate across agent networks effectively. - Human-like reasoning: Unlike traditional LLMs, AI agents can trace back their decisions, including time-traveling, reviewing, and revising past decisions based on new information. - Barriers to understanding agent behavior: Several engineers wrote in about their difficulties in explaining the capabilities and behaviors of AI agents to other stakeholders in their companies. Other times, the LLM is still a blackbox. The additional burden of explainability is left with the engineering team. The insights gleaned from this survey underscore the dynamic landscape of AI agent adoption and the intricate challenges that organizations navigate as they leverage these technologies in their daily operations.
