🌍 A significant announcement from the ITU, the United Nations agency for digital technology, aims to strengthen global efforts to protect the critical submarine cable infrastructure that powers our digital economy. The ITU's International Advisory Body for Submarine Cable Resilience will foster international collaboration, uniting industry leaders, governments, and regulators to enhance the safety, resilience, and protection of submarine cables. As a key hub for international connectivity, Djibouti Telecom understands the importance of a robust and resilient submarine cable network. With our strategic location and 10 operational submarine cables, including projects like Africa-1 and SeaMeWe-6, we play a vital role in securing global communication networks and ensuring uninterrupted service. This initiative comes at a crucial time, with growing challenges to submarine cables worldwide. Djibouti Telecom supports these efforts as we continue to enhance connectivity across East Africa and beyond. #Internet connectivity across Pakistan has been fully restored after successful repairs to critical submarine cables, announced the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). Issues with the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SMW4) and Asia-Africa-Europe 1 (AAE-1) cables had caused significant slowdowns since June, with additional disruptions in August. The repairs have restored a bandwidth capacity of 1,750 Gbps. Looking forward, Pakistan is set to strengthen its digital infrastructure by integrating the Pakistan East Africa Cable Express (PEACE) system within this year. Additionally, three new cables from Transworld International and PTCL are planned for rollout over the next two years, promising a substantial boost to internet capacity. #Pakistan #InternetRestored #PTA #DigitalGrowth #SubmarineCable #Connectivity

Vietnam to have 10 new undersea fibre optic cable lines Vietnam's international fibre optic cable system should have at least ten new undersea cables by 2030, bringing the country's undersea routes to at least 15. The strategy has been approved by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). The projected number of cables clearly defines the importance of Vietnam's international fibre optic cable system as part of the digital infrastructure and something which must be prioritised in terms of investment, ensuring the country's connection internationally. It must also have enough capacity so that some Vietnamese cities can become regional data centres. Developing the international fibre optic cable system aims to build international connectivity bridge for digital economic promotion, digital society, defence and security. State-owned enterprises pioneered the international foundation of the cable system, helping domestic and foreign businesses in order for them to quickly make breakthroughs in Vietnam's international fibre optic cable system.
