Doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis and sexually transmitted infections Doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis (doxy-PEP) is an effective strategy for preventing bacterial sexually transmitted infections (STIs) like syphilis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea among men who have sex with men and transgender women. Administered as a single 200 mg dose within 72 hours after unprotected sex, doxy-PEP has shown to reduce the incidence of these infections by over 70% in clinical trials. However, its efficacy in other populations, such as heterosexual individuals, remains unclear, and concerns about potential antibiotic resistance are being studied. I’d like to share an important article from JAMA about Doxycycline postexposure prophylaxis (doxyPEP) 🌟, which is prescribed to prevent certain bacterial STIs. While doxyPEP can significantly reduce the risk of infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, it’s crucial to remember that prevention is always the best approach 🚫💊. Many people have risks exposure for sexually transmitted infections. This is a leading cause of longterm complication illness, cost of care, quality of life, mental and social health effects. The important is have to raise awareness on publics and health care professionals.
