It's all in the process. ✍ 'Ah yes Mike but it's just a painting' I hear you say.... 🖌 ...but, when I work with a client it's so important for me to get their colours right. 🎨 After all, they've invested time, effort and money in getting their brand on point or their interior space just as they want it. 😁 So you don't want a piece of art or 'finishing touches' as I call them not to fit. How bad would that be? That's why as part of my seven step process I create a test piece to make sure everything is spot on there are no nasty surprises. For over 30 years, my passion has been creating art,using colour, form, and texture to express emotion and tell stories. since I moved to Bristol to start a new business base on my brother's business & skill as an upholstorer, I’ve come to realise that interior design is simply another canvas, one where I can take my artistic vision into a living, breathing space. Just like a blank canvas, every room holds endless possibilities. The colours, proportions, and materials I choose are guided by the same principles I’ve applied as a painter: balance, composition, and a deep understanding of how these elements evoke feeling. Interior design, for me, is the perfect fusion of art and function. It allows me to explore colour psychology, texture, and space in a dynamic, evolving environment. Each decision or meeting with a customer—whether it’s selecting a bold hue or arranging furniture—feels like a brushstroke, transforming a space into a piece of art that people can experience and interact with every day. Balancing my work as a model and an interior designer is all about time management and passion. While on set for a shoot, I often find inspiration for my design projects whether it’s from the textures, colours, or even the architecture of the location. Salam. Dam it those paint swatches, again - but wait there is more to this crisis - throughout the day the paint changes colour depending on the light in the room! Maybe the only thing I'm really good at is convincing my husband that we "need" to repaint. 🥺 Seriously! Before you paint... this is where knowing your Unique Design Personality is key to your success. By doing the course, you have narrowed the colours you LOVE down from the 10+ miiion possibilities (Phew - thank goodness for that). Now, you can either: * Learn more about paint and lighting (100% DIY or die?), or, * Call on the services of either your local Colour Consultant or Interior Designer to help you pick your exact colour palette for the room. If I ran an interior design company, I'd name it "Minimal" because I really love simple colors and designs. And when it comes to our website, I'd make sure it reflects that minimalist style. Imagine a clean and neat layout with maybe a really nice picture of a room that's designed with simplicity in mind. It's all about creating a feeling of calm and elegance.
