It’s really odd to me that there is a stigma against job hopping. In fact, one of the best and earliest pieces of advice I got from a mentor was to make sure that I always changed jobs around every 2 years during the first few years of my career. She said this would give me exposure to different roles, industries and working styles so that when I’m ready to get settled for a longer period of time at a company, I would already know the type of working environment and role suited me best. Now apparently it means inability to commit? To me, job hopping means: - continued career progression - continued salary progression - desire for something new and different - exposure to different technologies - exposure to different industries - ability to be adaptable to new environments Yes, there are times when it could also signal red flags, but isn’t that what interviews are for? 🤔 #CareerGrowth #JobHopping #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerAdvice #WorkplaceCulture

Something to think about
Non-Profit Executive / Community Builder / Advisor / Challenge Solver / Veteran & Military Spouse Advocate / Marine Corps Veteran
Always a bridesmaid, never the bride. On Friday, I once again received the call that I had not been selected for a role that I had been a finalist for. It hit me hard. This was a role that I saw myself in for the long haul and knew that I could make a big impact on the students while elevating the college to another level. I have made it to the final stages of many employment opportunities and have not gotten the offer. It is a horrible feeling, but we have to remember that it is all a part of the career search. For me, I am selective about the opportunities that I go after and they are highly competitive roles with other amazing candidates. This makes it tougher to win the interview phase. But I will reassure you that things happen for a reason. My advice for you is to keep your head up and continue searching for opportunities that speak to you. The right role will present itself when the time is right. #CareerSearch #Employment #Interview #Rejection #Disappointment #BruceTalk

My colleague Emma Ritchie posted on LI last week about how at Iconic, we truly want to know our candidates and their stories. It's not just about sending CV's with no context. I have been working on a role this week in which I have been recording short video interviews with my candidate's and this paired with Emma's post last week really got me thinking about how hard it must be for candidates applying directly to jobs with only a CV to get their story across 😒 One of the questions I asked my candidates in the interview was "Why is now a good time for you to commit to this role?" The reason I like asking this question is because, everyone's story is different and everyone has a different reason for seeking a new job. Some people are returning to the workforce after a career break. Some people are looking for a change in career. Some people are chasing promotion. Some people are seeking a new role after only being in their current role for 2 months but they have realised it's not for them. Everyone's story is different. We are here to bring this to life and be the middle man between you and your future employer. I speak with candidates weekly who feel they are being rejected because they don't have a "traditional career". We want to tell your stories for you 💪 #careercoach #recruitmentagency

It’s incredibly rewarding to see a client go from feeling lost and fearful having had her role disestablished to landing not just one, but multiple job offers, after we worked together. Supporting her to increase her confidence in the job search process then to negotiate her employment terms whilst remaining true to her values was an incredibly rewarding process for me. When your role is disestablished, it can be the opportunity that encourages you to step into a new and exciting journey. #BestAdvice

Career Update: I've accepted a perfect new role for me at a great company with new energy & leadership. Equally important, they had an amazing candidate experience which tells me everything I need to know about their culture and decisiveness. Six interviews scheduled in two days (including the CEO) and an offer less than a week later. More to come on the role, and I'm also looking forward to sharing some stories that could help others who are looking for their next opportunity. #growth #newbeginnings #opportunity

Starting my journey with Marvel FMCG has been incredibly exciting, and one of the key reasons I joined is the business’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. So over the next few weeks, I'm going to highlight some of the important practices we do to ensure everyone is getting a fair chance when it comes to career opportunities. A standout practice here is our 'Anonymous CV' policy. Every candidate CV we submit is anonymised to reduce unconscious bias and ensure hiring decisions are based purely on skills, experience, and potential. Bias—whether conscious or not—can limit diversity and stifle innovation. By taking active steps to reduce it, we help businesses build stronger, more dynamic teams while opening doors to a broader range of talent. We also have a hiring process that completely removes CV's from the process, but more on that in a future post. If you're interested in learning more about the ED&I initiatives we have in place to make hiring fair, while also making sure you get the very best candidates for the job, reach out for a catch up. I'll be posting my new number next week, but you can reach me via kieron@MarvelFMCG.co.uk in the meantime. #EDI #InclusiveHiring #AnonymousCVs #MarvelFMCG

“𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞” ❤️ When working with candidates who already have a job, it’s not just about finding another job but delving deeper to understand what a dream career looks like for them. We put a road map in place to strategically target roles that fit this criteria, giving clients more time to handle everything else life throws at them. After various unsuccessful interviews, my client has finally landed an amazing opportunity with a dream company and a better salary Definitely worth the wait 🤩 Having taken 8 career pivots over 20 years to figure out my own dream career, I aim to accelerate the process for my new client/friends so they don’t have to take as long as I did. How different would your life be in a better-paid and more fulfilling role you love? ❤️ #dreamjob #followyourbliss #executivecareercoach #knowyourworth #talkstorywithjames
