𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣’𝙨 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝙤𝙛 40% 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙞𝙣 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙬𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙅𝙑: 😎 🍻 Marston's PLC’s has completed the sale of its remaining non-core brewing assets to Carlsberg for £206m in cash, as it looks to create a business entirely focused on pubs. In July, Marston’s announced the sale of its 40% stake in Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company (CMBC), which was formed in 2020, as it establishes “a purely focused pub business with a strong position in the UK market and significant opportunities for further growth” and delivers on the company’s stated de-leverage strategy creating a “stronger balance sheet and a step change in financial flexibility”. Completion of the deal was targeted before the end of September 2024 and Marston’s has said the disposal has completed. Marston’s said it will continue its strong partnership with CMBC through the long-term brand distribution agreement that remains in place. The valuation on the deal represents an enterprise value multiple of 14.5 times Ebitda and 24.3 times Ebit for the 12-month period ended 31 December 2023.

Who Owns Modelo? Who owns Modelo? Grupo Modelo, the renowned Mexican brewing company behind popular beer brands like Corona and Pacifico, is owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev globally, except in the United States, where Constellation Brands, a New York-based conglomerate, holds ownership rights. Founded in 1925 in Mexico City, Modelo has a rich history and has grown significantly over the years, especially beyond its native borders. The company's global prominence surged after its acquisition by Anheuser-Busch InBev in 2013 for $20.1 billion, which integrated Modelo into the world's largest brewing entity.  However, AB InBev was forced to sell Modelo's U.S. business to resolve antitrust regulations and preserve competitiveness in the American beer industry. NEW: BrewDog is pivoting towards lager as it looks to become the fourth-largest brewer in the UK off-trade. With Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company's bestseller San Miguel set to switch to Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I in January, there was an opportunity for BrewDog to leapfrog the supplier, group sales director Stuart Harrison said. In a bid to win the battle for fourth spot, the Scottish brewer would place greater emphasis on lager to appeal to more shoppers, Harrison said. “Penetration of craft has plateaued,” he said. “There are no new consumers coming into craft. So we have to drive penetration to craft. That is why you will see a lot of focus from us next year on Lost [Lager].” Lost Lager, first introduced by BrewDog in 2018, will this year overtake Punk IPA to become the brewer’s biggest-selling beer in grocery, accounting for around 22% of its total off-trade volumes. As well as driving sales of Lost Lager via new pack formats and promotions, BrewDog would invest behind its 3.4% abv lager Cold Beer and extend its Wingman sub-brand into lager next year, Harrison said. 🚨 Major NA #beer News: On Tuesday, Athletic Brewing Co. announced it closed a $50 million equity financing round led by private equity firm General Atlantic, with participation from other investors. As part of the transaction, General Atlantic assumed a seat on Athletic’s board of managers. According to a press release, the company plans to use the funding to drive long-term growth. This includes renovating the recently purchased Ballast Point brewing facility in San Diego and expanding distribution to new international markets. Athletic is America’s fastest-growing non-alcoholic beer brand with over 19 percent of the category’s total market share, and according to NielsenIQ, is currently driving 32 percent of the category’s growth.
