As I shared yesterday, it was my birthday and I was 54. Research shows that 59% of HR decision makers admit to making assumptions based on age. And nearly half of recruiters think applicants aged 57+ are too old to be considered for a job 🤦🏼. Yet businesses are fighting a skills shortage. Two massive shifts are happening at once - a rapidly ageing population with fewer young people entering the workforce. With big investments at stake, how do companies find the right candidate? And how do recruiters, who are now often inundated with CVs, select the individuals who are likely to be a good fit? My 18 year old daughter is curious, agile and loves to learn. If you can't commit to respond to every applicant, I believe you shouldn't be recruiting. It's the most simple but most impactful step in a recruiting process. It's common courtesy after all. We have 300+ employers in The Circle Back Initiative who have made that commitment. Some hire thousands a year - but everyone get's an outcome. Some don't have recruitment systems - but everyone get's an outcome. For some people, recruitment is not there main job - but everyone get's an outcome. And for some there are huge application numbers - but everyone get's an outcome.
