Recently, I saw this:
“I'm looking for translators for Spanish, English, German, French, Chinese, Italian, etc. Hourly rate: $35/hr.”
Experienced professionals know immediately this isn’t a serious offer—yet HUNDREDS of people responded, expressing interest.
What’s happening? Why are so many skilled individuals willing to jump at offers that may undervalue their expertise? Is it a lack of industry knowledge, a competitive oversupply, or simply the pull of opportunity?
I am NOT saying that the fee is low. That is probably subjective and will vary depending on the country. I am saying that it is clear to me that that is not a serious, real job offer. That is probably scam or just clickbait.
