My client is on track to have her highest cash month (multi-5figs) since early 2021 after just 9 days of working with me. My client B hired me because she felt like she’d hit a glass ceiling with her income. Every time she made more, it would plateau or dip and even out to leave her with the same average number by the end of each month. Within 9 days, her earnings are up 101% over the last 30 days, and she’s on track to have her highest cash month in almost 4 years. Today Near-By has gone live. A tiny bit scrappy. Definitely not perfect. But live nevertheless. I’d had the idea running around my head for a good while. I decided to make it happen last November. If you also have a new project or business you’ve been pondering for a while here are my 3 top learnings so far that might be useful when you take the leap: 💷 Self Finance. For as long as possible. If you can.  Last month I joined the alpha cohort of Climbworks the new Unacclerator Programme by Paul Sturrock. I had a chat with Paul during the onboarding session about NEAR-BY and that I was about to apply for funding. He suggested I think on it. What if it becomes a dead weight of debt? Instead can I make it simpler, cheaper and debt free at this stage? Wise words. 🤷♀️ Good enough IS good enough.  I cannot tell you how many hours I’ve thought: “The platform is not quite right” “If I just tweak X it’ll work better” “If we redesign Y it’ll be much more desirable” Doing this meant deadlines started to slip away Instead... Make it simple. Functional. Get it live. Doing what it needs to do at this stage. Take all incoming feedback. And prep for stage 2 amends. 😂 Getting out of your comfort zone becomes the norm very quickly A few months ago I read a post on LinkedIn by Nick Hussey founder of FRAHM Jacket “...as a founder, understand all the cogs in your business. Don't pay a load of consultants and agencies from day 1. Your business will forever be a mystery to you. Do it yourself. Get your hands dirty. At first at least. Because otherwise you will never ever EVER understand your business properly.” Following this advice has made me far more uncomfortable that I’d planned. But now I know how my platform works. How to sell the idea to people who at first don’t understand it at all. And how to manage all the detail, in a way that builds a good reputation. Thanks Nick, great advice.
