Fun with #productmarketing alert! 🌈 TLDR: How you can exploit pre-existing mental shortcuts to focus on the stuff consumers really need to hear about. I thought I'd share a pretty simple but powerful tool to think through how we use the familiar patterns that people expect from a category to introduce new products or experiences. This isn't rocket science, but a great way to identify where we can reduce our reliance on product education and can be helpful in framing up interesting perspectives on CX. A few weeks back I was working with a client to introduce a radical new technology to a traditionally conservative category (residential construction). We used this tool to allow us to use the expected conventions of the category to create a shortcut to trusting their innovation. And did I mention it's usually fun ? Elena Madrigal 🚀, I know you have thoughts on this :) I'll post the deck in a follow-up. #productmarketing #differentiation #innovation P.S I know my video format is incorrect. I'm clearly not a seasoned vlogger :)

Week 2 of my video series on Bridging Intention to Impact! This week I cover why the assumption that usage equate to a successful product leaves many teams astray. Instead product teams should focus on how their features are changing specific behaviors that lead to a positive impact on user outcomes. I share a news media case study that I explore in the book to illustrate the different outcomes that companies faced based on whether they focused just on usage or outcomes overall. #booklaunch #metrics #productdevelopment #product #videoseries

TWO INCONVENIENT TRUTHS ABOUT THE PRODUCT An absolutely great and totally lost in YouTube annals with only 1K views and 9 likes (and 9th is mine) an incredibly valuable speech by Marty Cagan at the conference 10+ years ago: "Minimum Viable Product for Platforms" (https://lnkd.in/gznXkE27). If you're a Product Manager (especially if Digital, especially if you build SaaS/PaaS) and haven't seen that speech yet, I encourage you to add it into your list to watch! It is unfair that such a deep, structured speech full of insights gets lost having so little views and likes! What's inside: 1. Know what You can't know 👉 First inconvenient truth about the product: "At least half of our ideas are not gonna work" (time code: 11:08) 👉 Second inconvenient truth about the product: "Among the ideas that can work it typically takes at least 3 or 4 iterations before what we call 'time to money', before 'product/market fit'" (time code: 13:07) What's else inside: 2. Know what your Customers can't know 3. Discovery over Roadmaps 4. Data over Opinions 5. Outcome over Output 6. Designers over Design by Committee 7. Collaboration over Consensus 8. End Users over Developers 9. Pivots over Plans 10. Culture over Process I hope you'll find some time to enjoy this gold! P.S: I also added a comment with time codes for each of the topics under the video on YouTube -- so you could have a better UX while watching it 👍 #productmanagement #mvp #platforms #martycagan

User feedback is a free guide to improve your product!🫣 Here’s the thing about feedback :) It’s like a mirror showing us what’s working and what needs some love.🎯 Listening to users isn’t just about tallying up complaints, it’s about spotting patterns and diving deep to understand why users feel a certain way. The trick? Don’t get defensive. Users are giving us a free manual on how to make the product better! PS :} Start every feedback session with an open mind (and maybe some coffee ☕). Your product will thank you! #ProductManagement #Product #PM #Humor #Relatable #Cfbr
