ATN universities are empowering students to be leaders in technology like no other. University of Technology Sydney, Director of Entrepreneurship, Murray Hurps highlighted the ways in which UTS is supporting students to create Australian technology-enabled startups. As our workplaces become increasingly more intricate, having students who are invested in pioneering new ideas and different ways of doing creates graduates who are ready for what is ahead of them and able to conquer the world. UTS Startups is one of the biggest Australian programs which supports technology-enabled entrepreneurship. The program provides community, collaboration spaces and opportunities for all students and alumni, making way for over 600+ active startups. UTS Startups @ Schools in collaboration with The University of Newcastle's  I2N at The University of Newcastle Startups @ School introduce high school students in years 9-10 to tech entrepreneurs with a goal of increasing understanding and inspiring the next generation of students to pursue technology-enabled entrepreneurship. Hurps said that "62% of school students in this program have been female, and 42% of students say they want to pursue tech-enabled entrepreneurship for the first time, as a result of the workshops”. This is another illustration of how ATN universities continue to open doors for all students to exceed beyond what they thought was possible and how they work to close critical gender gaps in STEM pathways. Universities, colleges and bootcamps all have a key place in the startup community, feeding new talent and entrepreneurs to the eco-system but here's 3 ways education really can help: Engage willing communities of students: Often the pressures of university can leave students totally focused on studies and not what comes after, which then results in students opting for traditional corporate options. By engaging early with willing communities of students, there's a better chance on ingratiating the startup community with the future graduates. This offers students more options professionally while opening up more local opportunities as well for startups to engage fresh talent. Create a mentorship program for alumni and students: A mentorship program allows alumni to re-engage with the community that helped shape them, while also providing opportunities for students to pick the brains of leaders in their industry at a local level. Usually these two worlds just wouldn't cross, so giving high-flying students an opportunity to get invaluable experience in the local eco-system will benefit them while offering new perspectives to startups. Highlight alumni publicly: In our first point, we mentioned it can be difficult for students to see entrepreneurship as a viable option, so making sure to host regular events or even blog posts about successful startups founded by alumni will boost the idea that students can get involved in the eco-system immediately. It's important that we, as an eco-system, support universities and education facilities because the community must be founder led but combining "gown & graft" will only further both academic pursuits and the startup community's success.

Sharing hard-earned knowledge and experiences with the youth is a crucial responsibility. By integrating experiential learning and practical examples, we can significantly enhance our impact and facilitate meaningful knowledge transformation. Consider how companies like Google and IBM use mentorship programs to nurture talent and foster innovation, showing the effectiveness of such approaches. As someone deeply committed to youth empowerment, I am honored to join the 2nd Takhleeq Innovation and Entrepreneurship Challenge (TiEC’24) as a judge. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Club UCP, in collaboration with the Takhleeq Business Incubator, is organizing TiEC’24. This exciting intra-university competition at the University of Central Punjab (UCP) is designed to foster creativity and innovation among students. Open to all UCP students, it encourages participants to develop and pitch their innovative ideas, offering a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in entrepreneurship. Events like TiEC’24 are invaluable. They incorporate healthy competition among students and future business leaders, much like how hackathons and innovation challenges in the corporate world spark creativity and collaboration. For instance, companies like Microsoft host annual hackathons where employees can pitch and develop new ideas, leading to real-world applications and business solutions. These competitions should be held both inter and intra-university to promote entrepreneurial passion and foster a startup culture. They help students gain self-confidence and evolve into passionate future business leaders. Innovation and entrepreneurship are the keys to economic revolution and essential for survival in today’s competitive world. Look at how Tesla’s continuous innovation in electric vehicles has not only revolutionized the auto industry but also inspired countless startups.   Nitte Education Group Leads Innovation in Indian Higher Education with Entrepreneurial Program   In an emerging trend within the Indian higher education landscape, students and faculty members are increasingly engaging in entrepreneurship directly on campus, marking a significant shift towards making education more practical and directly tied to real-world applications. This movement not only allows students to earn while they learn but also equips them with critical entrepreneurial skills, setting them apart in a tight job market. At the forefront of this innovative wave is the AIC NItte Incubation center, which has introduced a comprehensive ecosystem aimed at fostering the entrepreneurial spirit among its students and faculty. The Nitte Young Entrepreneurs Development Programme, specifically designed for individuals associated with Nitte Deemed University, encourages the creation of startups leveraging intellectual property generated from faculty research and student projects.   The programme provides a structured path for participants to team up, undergo mentorship focusing on various business aspects, draft their business plans, and eventually launch their startups. In an exciting development, the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) at Nitte announced the commencement of this ambitious program in September 2023, drawing an impressive influx of over 500 ideas from the Nitte Education Group's students and faculty members. These submissions were rigorously evaluated through boot camps and mentorship sessions, with the top 50 ideas proceeding to an 8-week pre-incubation stage. From these, ten exceptional startups were selected for further incubation at AIC Nitte. This initiative not only underscores Nitte Education Group's commitment to blending academic pursuit with entrepreneurial practice but also sets a benchmark for how educational institutions can play a pivotal role in nurturing future business leaders and innovators.
