How did we make this college success program NOT feel like yet another course? We tapped program alums, now young professionals in the field, to share their post-program journeys. Scholars felt seen, supported, and inspired for the road ahead. When you're developing a course at your organization, how do you bring your community into the process?

🎓 Mike Krause of the John M. Belk Endowment, a former adult learner, understands the hurdles faced by many with unfinished degrees or no college education. Despite life's challenges, they're eager to return to school. Our #NCReconnect initiative is making a difference, encouraging more adult learners to continue their education. The key? Effective outreach, coaching, and supportive campus environments. This approach is helping adults navigate their way back to completing their academic goals. 🌟 **A Humbling Memory: Our First “Guiding Your Children’s Education Summit” 🌟** Yesterday, I took a quick glance at my Facebook page and was reminded of a special moment 9 years ago, in 2015. This memory brought back such emotional and humbling reflections as I remembered starting our very first **Guiding Your Children’s Education Summit** with my husband. For weeks leading up to the event, we pounded the streets, knocked on doors, and handed out leaflets to anyone willing to listen to our mission—to empower parents and transform their children’s lives by understanding the core principles within the education system. In the end, only 4 attendees joined us. But what an impact we made! Their eyes were opened, and we knew our passion had been shared. At the time, we were also running the **Cedar Tree Saturday School**, which was thriving until the pandemic hit. It was during those conversations, particularly with my son and his friend, that I realised many parents were unaware of how the education system could significantly shape their children’s futures, especially if they didn’t pass their GCSEs. The truth is, the education system often fails to provide the support needed when our children struggle. The results can determine their paths, but the system doesn't always help as we expect. That image below symbolises our humble beginnings, and I’m so proud to say that we will be hosting our **3rd annual summit** in just 4 weeks! 🎉 We can’t wait to see you there! 🎟️ Get your tickets now on Eventbrite 👉 [link](https://lnkd.in/eUH_JsQS). 👀 Keep an eye out for sneak peeks of our speakers and snippets of the upcoming event! #GuidingYourChildren #EmpowerParents #EducationMatters #CedarTree #GCSESuccess #EducationSummit2024 #ParentsSupport #TransformingLives #SaturdaySchool #Eventbrite #Throwback #Memories #EmpowermentJourney
Eliyo - After a discussion with my son and his friend I had a shocking reminder of how oblivious a parent can be about the way the system filters how our children's futures are determined if they fail their GCSE's we think that the education system set up to assist, however, depending on your results your journey may or may not begin! This seminar is a MUST come and listen to our educational exper

I worked for decades in organizations serving children and families, and many of them were early adopters of programs that served two or multi-generations- children plus their parents or caregivers. A two-generation approach is understood by many as a program that is designed to work with both generations at the same time. Recent research, however, is also looking for ways to coordinate a host of services that together provide better support to both generations. Two-generation work has always had strong evidence of success for individual families, but when providers consider ways to coordinate a host of services, they begin to change the systems that often create too many barriers for children and their parents to get the supports they need. They begin together to build new systems that work better for families. This is #humancentereddesign. #impact #nonprofit This article shares learning from OPRE across four two-generation initiatives. In the social enterprise sector we may be familiar with a few tactics they combined for great results: logic models, centering family and practitioner voice, and working collectively with multiple organizations. They built logic models that were intentionally designed with two generations in mind, incorporated practitioners into the design of the logic models, and engaged families to identify logic problems, allowing them to better design services that address the root needs of the families served. In the last year, Heightened Development has had the great privilege of working with four amazing organizations doing and/or supporting this high-impact, two-generation work: ROCKINGHAM COUNTY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN Mary Black Foundation Children's Trust of South Carolina Hope Center for Children
