Last week, we had a fabulous visit and full-day workshop with The Salvos in Bourke Street, Melbourne. We learnt that every 17 seconds, someone is helped by the Salvos and at this time of the year, over 3000 meals a week are provided alone at the Bourke Street Project base. We were also relieved that 100% of our donations is directly transferred to the ongoing care and support projects. Good can take countless forms, but the aim remains the same — to inspire people to not only believe in good for themselves and work towards that, but also come together and create change that is good for all. After all, that’s what the Salvos do each day. During our workshops throughout the day, we walked through the inner-city of Melbourne and listened to the real stories of community building and healthy positive changes through the work of over 6000 Salvo Soldiers across Australia. Every day and night, the Bourke Street Project Home is open for all members of the community to visit and create a home. It is so important to consider our own experiences of belonging and the importance of community at this time of the year. Hope, purpose and fulfillment can be everyone’s story, regardless of our circumstance. #Thankyou so much for all that all of you are doing to support and work at The Salvos. #buildingcommunitiesofcare #strenghteningcommunities #festiveseasonspirit #belonging #caringcommunities #givingtoothers

It’s taboo to mention anything politics, but with the US election taking place I think it’s worth calling out the importance of participating in elections and understanding the principles and policies of your elected officials. With Movember in mind, it’s important to understand that the way you vote has a direct impact on your access to health care both physical and mental. Donations to organizations like Movember are incredibly helpful, but the real power comes in the way your governments invest your tax dollars in different programs and partnerships. To support programs that provide more access to men’s health programs please consider donating here: https://lnkd.in/dmghukQ7

We stand ready to welcome people who are being turned away at the border under the Biden Administration’s new order. KBI is coordinating with other organizations and communities in Ambos Nogales who stand ready to welcome the hundreds of people who have been cut off from the asylum process. Nogales is ready. We are proud to be located in a place that has key infrastructure to welcome people who have been turned away. At the same time, we know that we need more resources and partnership to make sure we can accompany people and mobilize Ambos Nogales for local hospitality. We are communicating with local shelters and coordinating with partners like Grupo Beta. Together, we can make sure that the people caught in the crosshairs of the Biden Administration’s extreme actions are welcome with a humane, integrated response. The US and Mexican governments must do their part by freeing up resources so we can make sure we can offer food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and more. You can play a critical role, too. Consider donating funds, volunteering your time, supporting us through prayer, and advocating within your own community for #MigrationWithDignity 🙏🏽 #HumanRights #SupportMigrants #CommunitySolidarity

Friends and Colleagues: You know I never do this, but you also know as a former "Army guy" and emergency management professional, I have a special place for those that do the tough, dirty work to bring hope in places of loss and despair. I am a proud member of Team Rubicon, and have sat on the Board of Team Rubicon Canada (TRC) for about 5 years because of who it helps, what it stands for, and what it does. You've seen TRC in the aftermath of many disasters, but you also haven't seen them because they do the essential, dirty, unglamourous and sometimes dangerous jobs that don't get media attention - mucking out basements, sifting through ashes, sawing through downed trees, or just about anything that brings hope. They go to the remote, underserviced areas of Canada to help First Nations communities. They are volunteers at their finest. They get shit done where others cannot, or will not. As a member of the Board of Team Rubicon Canada, I am proud to share our "Bring Hope Home" holiday campaign. This important initiative supports communities affected by disasters, bringing hope and recovery to those in need. Disasters do not discriminate, and it could happen to any of us at any time. I support Team Rubicon Canada because I believe that we fill a gap in the humanitarian aid space that is vital to devastated communities. Team Rubicon Canada, a veteran-led humanitarian organization, mobilizes trained volunteers across Canada to respond to disasters and provide critical relief in the aftermath. They fill a gap in service that is not offered by other NGO's. This holiday season, we aim to raise $200,000 to fund essential disaster recovery projects and strengthen our teams’ readiness for crisis response year-round. There are a number of ways that individuals and companies can support our work. If your company typically provides gifts to clients at this time of year, perhaps consider a gift in their honour to Team Rubicon Canada. A note can be provided to the honoree from Team Rubicon should you wish. At a staff party, a company could announce their support of community through a charitable donation. If your business benefits from Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, perhaps consider donating a percentage of sales to Team Rubicon Canada. The TR Canada staff can help with any needs in that regard. Rather than a single gift, an individual could choose a smaller monthly donation through our Support Squad, to ensure year long funding for TR Canada, this could also be set up in honour of someone special. Any amount has an impact. Your support means that Team Rubicon can bring hope to vulnerable communities and respond rapidly when asked for help! We would be most grateful if you would kindly consider making a contribution and sharing this message within your network. Thank you for your consideration and generosity. Shane

Movember is BACK! I have three goals for Movember '24: 1) Raise at least $3,000. Donations go towards some pretty amazing causes. 2) Get people talking & learning more about men's health. 3) Grow a beautiful mustache. How you can make a difference: 1) Donate to my Movember campaign. 2) Talk! Something as simple as having a conversation with someone can help save a life. 3) Like & share this post with your connections. 🥸

Good cause alert! Check out the great work that Rainforest Saver are doing... They work in Africa and the Amazon to reduce poverty and forest destruction. Our website evaluation has given them some pointers on getting more donations and clearer navigation. If you have a few spare pennies, please send them their way! Nice to be working with the awesome Matt Tutt and Jenny Lyn Mourato. https://lnkd.in/e4YGeGMX #CharityMarketing #ResearchImpact #WebsiteEvaluation
