My work “TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL” will premiere on May 30th, 2024 during the opening of the. IV INTERNATIONAL ECOPERFORMANCE FILM FESTIVAL São Paulo Edition 30/05/2024 - 02/06/2024 Opening May 30, 6:30 pm to 9 pm: Opening + Session 1 Cine Satyros Bijou, Praça Franklin Roosevelt, 172 – Consolação São Paulo, Brazil At the intersection of cinema, performing arts, and ecology, the festival promotes films of established and emerging interdisciplinary artists investigating the tensions between environment, body, and ancestry in natural, urban, and virtual landscapes. The festival incentivizes films striving for less anthropocentric forms of dramaturgy and cinematography. TO CONCEIVE AND UNDERSTAND IT ALL/ 3:58 min./ Like many of my other works, I reflect on a subject in a metaphorical and fictional way rather than a direct or documentary way. The focus of the work is on mental aspects such as thoughts and feelings about the circumstances of strokes of fate or adversity and what these mean or can do to people. The work contains spoken words and text No scenes of accidents, disasters, terror and war. Neither doves of peace nor moral slogans will appear in the work. It is simply a quiet reflection on all kinds of strokes of fate and the effects that issues such as accidents, catastrophes, terror and war bring with them. I want to use today’s post to celebrate #Brazil beyond its linguistic richness. Brazil’s cinematography shines once again with “Ainda estou aqui", which was nominated for an Oscar for Best International Feature Film. This film, directed by Walter Salles, tells the true story of Eunice Paiva’s struggle during Brazil’s #militarydictatorship, which lasted from 1964 to 1985. While many associate Brazil primarily with #soccer and #Carnival, our country boasts much greater richness that deserves recognition. Our film industry consistently produces thought-provoking and critically acclaimed films. In addition, Brazil excels in music, with genres such as #BossaNova and #MPB captivating global audiences. We are also known for our vibrant literature, innovative architecture, and cutting-edge scientific research. “Ainda estou aqui” not only showcases our cinematic talent, but also sheds light on an important chapter in Brazilian history that needs to be rescued, discussed, revealed, and, hopefully, never repeated again. Its international acclaim, including awards at the Venice Film Festival, demonstrates the universal appeal and quality of Brazilian cinema. This is definitely a must-to-see movie. 📸 "Ainda estou aqui" poster campaign for the 2025 awards season • Reproduction. Had the pleasure of attending the Employee Premiere of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga at the Warner Bros lot, courtesy of Wendy Ruiz. Thought I'd share my thoughts now that the opening weekend buzz has simmered down. (Light spoilers ahead) In a landscape of mixed reviews, I honestly believe Furiosa to be the best film of the year, so far. The storytelling was both captivating and fresh, offering a glimpse into Furiosa's resilient journey and the formidable figures who shaped her. Tying it back to Fury Road, where she returns to find her home vanished, added a layer of devastation to her already compelling narrative. George Miller's world-building once again shines through with gripping action and unapologetic brutality. One scene that particularly struck me was a war rig fight scene that was shot from the side, reminiscent of side-scrolling games like Mario. It was a visually stunning perspective with an array of moving parts, showcasing the film's impeccable cinematography. To me, what sets Furiosa apart, especially in the realm of female-led films, is its nuanced approach to romance. Instead of succumbing to tired tropes, the film introduces a love-interest without allowing it to overshadow Furiosa's journey. There's no on-screen intimacy of any kind, leaving the depth of their connection open to interpretation. This deliberate choice keeps the focus squarely on Furiosa's character development, highlighting her evolution from a solitary warrior to someone willing to embrace companionship on her terms. Furiosa offers a refreshing take on relationships, underscoring that love interests aren't the ultimate goal for every protagonist. It's a realistic portrayal that resonated deeply with me. Overall, Furiosa is a triumph in storytelling and a testament to the enduring power of the Mad Max universe. What are your thoughts on Furiosa?

Black and white movies, for my generation especially, I think would be quite hard to watch. Given, that our cinema is often full of colour and action in that sense. Over the weekend I watched 'Madol Duwa'. The movie, was not exactly in black and white but more so a brown. And yet, I found myself pleasantly drawn to the cinematography and really enjoying the movie. It reflected, in the manner in which they spoke, dressed, the architecture and overall outlook to life a time vastly different to the one I belong to. And yet, in many ways there seemed to be similarities. For instance, the representation of childhood seemed similar. There was one scene in the movie where the kids go catch frogs and play a prank. It reminded me of my brother and his friends who would catch frogs, build them a home and observe them keenly. It got me thinking that as time goes by and as new generations come forth and change along with it, there must remain some things that stay the same for us despite the different times we belong to. Similarly, maybe if we spent time understanding where each generation comes from, while we may still choose to disagree with certain notions it would offer clarity and understanding to theirs and ours thought process. I also realised that not all things are black and white. When you watch a black and white movie, colour although absent leaves the mind wandering and imagining as to what colours the attires and surroundings maybe. Similarly, if we ponder and choose to question more we'd find that maybe there's truth to certain notions or maybe we'd find that it's entirely wrong. But to question not with the intent of finding fault but to truly learn and widen ones horizon is a skill & quality that we seem to lack. Thus, limiting our point of view and the things we learn there of. So, maybe as generations come and change along with it, facilitating open conversation and asking questions and choosing to understand each other would make us realise that with the differences we have, there comes similarities too.

In 1890, films began as a roll of screens that rotated like a flipbook, creating the illusion of motion. This rudimentary system, known as a kinetoscope, involved individual frames being rapidly displayed, tricking the eye into perceiving continuous movement. 🎥📜 This invention marked the dawn of modern cinema, paving the way for storytelling through moving images. It’s fascinating how these early techniques evolved into the sophisticated filmmaking technologies we enjoy today! Fun fact: The kinetoscope was invented by Thomas Edison and his team, laying the groundwork for the film industry. 🎬 #History #Cinema #Innovation #Technology

Movies take years to bring to theater, but hours to watch. Strikingly similar to success. — Isaac Mashman 🎥 Take my favorite trilogy for example. The Lord of The Rings by Peter Jackson. These films won countless awards and captivated millions. I have seen them, extended editions too, the only way to watch them by the way, so many times. What makes them so special? The emotions they invoke, the cinematography, the music score by Howard Shore, and overall storytelling. It took immense time and effort to create these masterpieces. So yeah, they connect on a deeper level. 📚 Success, like these films, requires patience and dedicated effort. Every frame, every scene took meticulous planning and execution. Just like in business, the final product may seem effortless. But behind the scenes, there's a ton of hard work. Never demean another person's progress (unless they're unethical slobs of course) 😬 #Movies #Success #Patience #LordOfTheRings #Storytelling #Appreciation
