"I’m not sure I have made this clear: self-knowledge is so important that even if you were drawn directly into heaven in prayer, I wouldn’t want you to replace your practices of humble and honest self-reflection." - St. Teresa of Avila in Interior Castle Recently, I ordered a new translation of Interior Castle. This is my 4th reread of this classic text, and while it is familiar it still feels fresh. It is interesting to know a text so well that you can pick up the nuances of 4 translations. Teresa of Avila has much to teach modern Evangelicalism, which in my mind has a faulty understanding of self-knowledge. While working in the church world I saw how Evangelicalism only wants people to focus on their breaking of commandments, rules, or codes but not become aware of the ways we are negatively affected by traumas and attachment. This means that "as long as you follow the rules, you are good." In reality, though, we can "follow the rules" and yet deeply hurt those close to us because we are acting out of a certain reactivity or need for control that is unhealthy and ultimately, unholy. In the 1600s, Teresa saw this dynamic at play and while she did not have the modern resources of psychology, I believe she was long ahead of the curve in knowing the importance of self-inquiry and self-knowledge. #interiorcastle #teresaofavila #humility #kenosis

What if the Bible isn’t just a historical or spiritual text, but a guide to understanding what’s happening inside of us? Consider this: stories like the Exodus, the crucifixion, and phrases like "the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:21) might be pointing to internal processes—spiritual, emotional, and even physical. Your Body as the Temple (1 Corinthians 6:19): A sacred space where transformation unfolds. The Exodus: Freedom from the “enslavement” of ego or negative habits. Golgotha (Place of the Skull): The mind is where spiritual rebirth happens. The Third Eye (Matthew 6:22): Could the pineal gland be the "lamp of the body"? DNA and the Word (John 1:1): What if the “Word” describes the blueprint of life itself? Whether you view this as metaphor, mystery, or just a fresh lens, it’s an incredible thought: the sacred narratives in the Bible could also reflect the divine story happening within us. What’s your take? Could this perspective reshape how we approach one of history’s most influential texts? Let’s discuss! #SpiritualGrowth #BibleMetaphor #MindBodyConnection #FaithAndScience #PersonalTransformation #InnerWisdom #SelfDiscovery #HolisticSpirituality #Mysticism #KingdomWithin

A seed for contemplation So when you ask me as the Living ECK Master to take your burdens, I can walk beside you and help you, but I won't carry your burdens forever. Gradually, as you get stronger, there comes a time when I give more and more back to you. The tears and sorrows life gives us are for our own spiritual development and unfoldment. By development and unfoldment, I mean the growing recognition of ourselves in the true state—Soul, the divine spark of God." —Sri Harold Klemp, "The Secret Teachings," Mahanta Transcripts, Book 3 WWW.ECKANKAR.ORG

To create your desired future, you must do one thing: speak differently. You must change the words you use when talking about your current and past life experiences and the future you desire. From a spiritual perspective, words are creative. In metaphysical and mystical circles, you are taught to be careful what you say lest you regret your words. I’ve often heard people say, “I wish I didn’t have to go to work,” and then get fired. Or they say, “Men/Women always abandon me.” Then, their current partner walks out of the relationship without explanation. However, science also tells us that words have a frequency and, therefore, energy. Sound vibrates on your eardrums, so you hear someone talking or singing. Read the Old Testament, which is estimated to have been written between 1445 and 1405 BC, and you’ll find evidence that language can create. After all, this sacred text tells us that God spoke the world into being—“Let there be light,” and there was light. Read my recent post: https://buff.ly/3uQW5hz ##create #creation #manifestation #LOA

Ecclesiastes is one of the more difficult Biblical books in the Old Testament to understand. Is it just a cynical view of “life under the sun” presented by a jaded old man? Or does it contain observations and conclusions that are eminently valid but impenetrable to man by his unaided wisdom? This world gives no clue as to life’s purpose, provides no answer to man’s ultimate longing, and furnishes no resolution to life’s jarring contradictions and inequities. The author, who is called “Koheleth” or the Preacher and identifies himself “the son of David, king in Jerusalem,” reflects upon his own futile efforts to find ultimate meaning and purpose amidst life’s perplexities (apart from God). After wrestling through the themes of the world’s bewildering contradictions and frustrations, he concludes that nothing “under the sun” will ever fulfill the eternal longing which God has put in the heart of man. In the confidence that the God who sits above the sun will bring an ultimate resolution, man finds his center, not in the world of vanity, but in the God of eternity. #jesus #jesuschrist #bible #bibleverses #bibleverseoftheday #biblestudy #hope #faith #love #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthatwork #mindmatters #mindset #mindsetmatters
