Diary of a Coworking Space Manager / Small Business Owner #0008 - Noticed that a bunch of events we're hosting around the same time all had similar slants and decided to rally them all up to create the first ever "tuesday Business Week": tinyurl.com/tbw2024 - Assembled 8 chairs and put the finishing touches on our new, ready-to-go "Light" meeting room at Düsseldorfer Strasse (see below): tinyurl.com/duessel75 - Finally added LinkedIn to our list of channels for event promotion. Here's our fairly standard "stack": Eventbrite, Facebook, Instagram, Mailchimp for externals, Gmail for internals (members), Slack for current and former members, tuesday's website, physical postering in the spaces, and now, yes, LinkedIn. Where do you promote your events? Any glaring omissions? https://lnkd.in/eS77f_tW - Kept calm and carried on wearing my "keep calm and carry on" t-shirt in the face of the election result :/ - Worked out the monthly revenue share for October that one of our landlords gets as part of our revenue share deal. Great for your cashflow at the beginning of your partnership. Long-term it's a bit of a pain to be honest.

👉 Revive Your Coworking Space with a Simple Email Newsletter If you struggle to keep your coworking space buzzing, the answer is not more work; it's less work. One of the most valuable things you have is a weekly email newsletter. But everyone overthinks it in their weekly email newsletter. You can email hundreds or even thousands of people every week. In that case, those people have opted in and are already in your community. And if you repeat this process, just like going to the gym, the more often you go, the easier it gets. So you have to send four easy pieces of information. - What happened? - What is gonna happen? - An event. - Something about a member. And that's it, with a few lines about each thing because you're not producing the next great American novel; you're sending a little note to people. If you can put it on the bulletin board in your coworking space, you can certainly include it in the weekly email newsletter. It works like this: Find those four things this week and then look for them again next week. You can even repeat things! 🔔 Boost your coworking & community-building skills with my 2-minute daily email: follow the link in my bio. Have a remarkable day. Be careful out there. It is a jungle. #coworking #communityisthekey #coworkinglondon

Should you give conference room credits for free to your coworking members? The answer is… …It totally depends on your market. If conference rooms aren't used often, then giving the credits is a great amenity that doesn't cost you much. If conference rooms are really popular -- especially for high-ticket all-day bookings from outside non-member companies -- then you might not want your members using an hour in the middle of the day that would prevent an ($$$) all day booking. At my #coworking space, Medford Cowork Collective, most members get 3-6 hours per month and rarely use them. But, at most of Space Savvy Studio clients' spaces, members get 2 or fewer credits. Some memberships come with zero and only discounted pricing on rooms. And their conference rooms are used all the time! Your tech stack can help you manage this revenue -- think about all the options 👉 if you charge by the hour or the day? 👉 if you want certain pricing for different membership types (discounts) 👉 if you want certain credit values for some rooms vs others 👉 if you want to use dynamic pricing to respond to demand… all of these are reasons to have a robust booking platform to make sure you are meeting the demand's needs with easy-to-understand pricing and 24/7 bookability.

When it comes to coworking and flexible workspace conferences, GCUC - Global Coworking Unconference Community is without a doubt the leader, globally. Bringing together decision-makers and game-changers in the industry, this conference is an experience packed with expert insights, visionary conversations, and opportunities for connection. Our very own founder and CEO Brad Krauskopf, together with Gentry Long from Industrious, shared insights on whether workspace operators should insource or outsource their cafe operation. The takeaway? It’s not a one-size-fits-all answer – and it depends a lot on which business you believe you’re in and whether the cafe is core business or just one of many amenities ☕️
