Here's a short video summarising the char.gy team performance at the recent valuable Interchange Strategic Transport Bodies event held at the stunning Manchester Central venue. At the event, Shayne Rees presented on stage and we hosted workshops to empower local authorities with knowledge in scaling reliable, convenient, low-cost public EV charging. We shared insights into how to create a cost-effective scalable public network to provide more charge points, ensuring access to the most people without driveways in the quickest time, paving the way for an easy and just transition to EVs. Every year IMEX Frankfurt is a great opportunity for VGF - Pre-financing & Guarantee Fund to be present. Not only to be able talk to new, potential organizers of international conferences in the Netherlands, but also to strengthen our relationships with existing partners of the NBTC Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions.   Meeting new people, seeing familiar faces in the Netherlands Booth and having conversations about how VGF can offer help always brings a smile to the face of Paul Gruijthuijsen. But it's not just about explaining the benefits of this special and globally unique instrument called VGF that people appreciate so much. The fact that the Netherlands offers the opportunity to reduce financial risks is viewed with some envy by fellow countries and destinations, and it gives the Netherlands a small competitive edge over the rest of the world.   The VGF alone can not make the difference. Kraków Convention Bureau Kraków Convention Bureau has been operating since 2004 — exactly 20 years. That’s the same amount of time Poland has been in the European Union 🇵🇱🇪🇺. 🏨 In 2004, there were 83 hotels in Kraków. Today, there are 198, including 21 five-star properties ✨. 🏟️Ten years ago, Kraków saw the opening of three major conference venues: TAURON Arena Kraków: The largest sports and entertainment hall in Poland, with a capacity of 22,000. International Congress Centre Expo Kraków: Accommodating 5,000 participants 🌐. ICE Kraków Congress Centre: An architectural icon of the city 🏛️. 🌐 Kraków hosts many international corporations’ offices. After Brexit, several companies relocated their European divisions here. It’s an excellent place for collaboration with specialists in fields like IT, life sciences, telecommunications, and finance. Additionally, it ensures a full audience at industry events. 🚋 For international event participants, Kraków provides free public transportation without the need to purchase tickets. All major venues are located around the Main Square, making trams the fastest form of transport. Public transportation also reduces the events’ carbon footprint, contributing to sustainable development 🌿. 🌎 Two years ago, Kraków became the global capital of the meetings industry when we hosted the 61st ICCA Congress, attracting 900 delegates from 80 countries 🤝. 🌆 In Kraków we also hosted and co-organized other industry events such as The European Cities Marketing Summer School and the annual Meetings Professionals International meeting (MPI). 📈 In 2022, Kraków was the first Polish city to join the GD Index—an initiative that benchmarks cities based on their sustainable development performance. ✈️ The average flight duration from European capitals to Kraków is 2 hours and 16 minutes. 📣 Double-Digit Growth in Italian Conference Tourism The latest Italian survey of #Conferences and #Events, conducted by Federcongressi&eventi and ASERI at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, reports a robust season for #Italy's #conference #tourism. In 2023, Italy hosted 340,057 events, a 12% increase from 2022. Delegate numbers rose by 28% to 27,152,890, with total attendance reaching 41,835,932—a 31.9% increase. ✒ Key Insights: - Event Locations: 59% in Northern Italy, 24.7% in Central Italy, 10.2% in the South, and 6.1% on the Islands. - Venue Preferences: 77.8% of events were held in conference #hotels, with significant growth seen in #conference #centres and #trade #fair #venues. - Organisers: Companies organised 66.3% of events, while #associations accounted for 22.3%. It's not unexpected that LA has found a way to complete an expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center ahead of the LA28 Olympics. Congratulations to Adam Burke and the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board. Some notes: The facility currently hosts almost 200 meetings and events and attracts 2 million visitors a year. The expansion will add: - 190,000 square feet to connect the South and West Exhibit Halls, creating one contiguous hall - 55,000 square feet of new meeting room space - 95,000 square feet of multipurpose space - Public open space and an outdoor event venue at the Gilbert Lindsay Plaza. What this means for the destination: - 7,445 construction jobs and 2,147 ongoing jobs - 50,000 additional attendee days annually - $165 million in additional revenue annually - $30 million added to the city's general fund tax revenue each year To make this happen, the city is entering a public-private partnership with AEG (sister company to ASM Global, which manages the venue) and Plenary Americas. The partnership involves designing, building, financing, operating, and maintaining the expanded venue.
