You're going to run into people with big egos. Our team of Instructors had to deal with a lot of these, especially in the SEAL Teams.
But there's one surefire way to help avoid any conflict that comes from clashing egos.
Subordinate your own ego.
The problem isn't them. It's you.
Hear why in our latest YouTube Video with Leif Babin and Jocko Willink:

This is how I overcame my stage fear for the first time.
I was an introvert in school, and hated talking to new people, or speaking on stage. It terrified me. I used to avoid it at all costs.🤷♂️
However, when I was in 9th Standard, my class teacher put my name for an English Declamation competition. She had figured that I used to communicate well with teachers during class, and with friends, but I refrained from doing the same on stage. When I found out I'd have to perform 2 full pages of Mark Anthony's speech from the play Julius Caesar, I was terrified. 😨
Not wanting to lose face, I took help from my brother, teachers and YouTube videos to prepare and memorise the speech! (https://lnkd.in/gzdeJkgN)
I had written down the speech on a sheet of paper, which was curled up inside my pocket as I stood in front of the mic in front of 200 people. The kids in the front row were distracted, playing with each other. I started the speech with a strong, firm voice and got their attention. But things took an awful turn when I literally forgot the second sentence of the speech. I sheepishly pulled out the paper, trying to find what the second sentence was. That's when half the crowd started giggling. One of the most embarrassing moments of my schooling! 😶🌫️
At that point, it felt like liberation. A sudden rush of adrenaline, and it seemed like there was nothing to lose anymore. I threw the paper behind me and continued. I tried to reenact exactly how Marlon Brando did in the movie. It felt amazing as I completed the entire speech without any mistakes. 🤩
I won the second prize, courtesy of the little mistake in the second sentence. But I had won something bigger. I had overcome my fear of speaking on stage. I haven't looked back since, grabbing every opportunity to take center stage. 🤠
Wondering what would have happened if my teacher hadn't nominated me, or If i had refused to participate, how much longer it would've taken me to get over my evil! 🥶

Kevin Stories 04.02.24 : Ride My SeeSaw
When I was a kid, I used to love the playground. My favorite pass time was riding on the SeeSaw, especially if the kid across from me was a pretty girl. The fun part was when we switched sides so we could see what the other person saw.
Wouldn’t it be brilliant if we could do that today Spiritually or Philosophically? We change places. You see what I see. I see what you see. We drink it all in and when we’re done, we have a much greater understanding of each other.
For the past 2 ½ years, I have been sharing what I see from my side of the SeeSaw and I have also been seeing what all of you my Shipmates see. We have seen through each other’s eyes and come to love each other even when we have religious, political, business and scientific differences.
In the world we now live in, too many people are too afraid or too prejudice or too stubborn to even try to look through the eyes of those they disagree with especially if they already hate each other.
These days people do hate each other. I see this clearly when it comes to American politics. Democrats and Republicans are inundated every day with reasons to hate and fear each other. Hard Left and Hard Right see each other as Monsters instead of human beings. The same thing happens with Fundamentalists of different Religions. They see each other as Enemies instead of Brothers.
God is Love. If we want to be like God, then we need to seek Love for ourselves and each other regardless of what the hype masters or conspiracy theorists tell us…

Is success dependent upon natural-born talent or hard work? This is a common topic in #trainingclasses such as #leadership, #trainthetrainer, and #technicalwriting workshops. I caution against believing there's such thing as someone who comes straight out of the womb with a superior ability to lead, speak, or write, etc. That position enables sexists and racists who suggest abilities are embedded in DNA. It may also curse those among us who believe "I'm just not good at math" or similar self-doubt.
I'm impressed with the youngsters in the YouTube clip below, particularly the rhythm section. The proverbial "little drummer boy" is really banging the sticks, and the young lady on the bass is rocking the AC/DC shirt. Bless whomever picked "Train in Vain," it's my favorite song by The Clash. Trivia: the original title was "Stand by Me", but Ben E. King already had a hit with that title, so they changed it.
I'm wondering if they may be right brainers with creative artistic talents, an ear for music, and/or to what degree it's the hours of practice, the hard work and dedication to their craft that elevates them to this skill level. What say you?
