It's not that mental health at work was never important, it's that it was never given prominence. We realise now how important it is for our personal and professional success. The innate challenge now is changing the culture. Leaders have become really comfortable with the idea that spending excess time in work equates to great performance...it doesn't (sorry!). Even worse is that some will chastise people when they don't work that 20th hour that they don't get paid for. And then we begin to wonder why burnout is so high, why retention is so low, why general engagement is...well, pants! Don't get me wrong, we've all pulled longer shifts to get a job done. We've all worked that extra day to make sure things are right! And when that's personal choice (in small amounts that people are recognised for and given back to) that's (somewhat) okay. But when it becomes an element of toxic workplace culture through it being expected religiously and given the status of a thankless task, rather than mutually rewarding personal choice, things tend to go really sideways! Let's normalise healthy workspaces. Let's drive effectiveness and efficiency rather than overworking. And how do we achieve that I hear you ask?! Inspiring and effective leadership... Now that's a good place to start! #leadbyexample #leadershipdevelopment #leadership #coaching #management #performanceimprovement #mentalhealthmatters #workplacewellbeing

I keep seeing the same roles being re-posted and left vacant for months. If someone has the right attitude, the necessary skills, and fits well with the team, hire them. There are so many talented individuals still searching for jobs, yet. Think back—who took a chance on you? Maybe it's time you took a chance on someone. #Hiring #Recruitment #TalentAcquisition #Leadership

Unforgettable Career Advice: Say YES to Opportunities. Ever felt unprepared for an opportunity but took the plunge anyway? Here's why you should: Saying YES, even when you're not 100% ready, is the secret to rapid growth and learning. Here’s my story: When my manager resigned, my VP was looking for a replacement. I reached out and asked him what he expected from this role. After listening, I made a bold request: "Let me run the process for 2 months and see if I fit the role." He agreed. The replacement was never hired. The lesson? You never know what you're capable of until you step up and do it. Opportunities don’t wait for you to be fully prepared. Take the leap. Say YES more often than you say NO. #CareerAdvice #GrowthMindset #Leadership #Opportunities #SayYes

Two weeks ago today, I was impacted by a staff reduction at a company that I worked for the last 5.5 years. I saw myself retiring with this company, so it never occurred to me that one day I may be back on the job search, but here we are. Understandably, people impacted are angry and bitter, but that’s not my story. I am grateful. You’re probably thinking - grateful?!? How?! I’m grateful that one of the biggest healthcare staffing companies saw potential in me. I started at entry level and worked my way up to leadership. I’d say that’s an accomplishment. I oversaw three different teams at my time with the company and met some amazing people! The bond my teams formed made them more like family than coworkers. I’d say that’s an accomplishment. I always told my teams, “I am here to encourage, support, empower, and help grow you” and I meant it. My teams experienced a ton of growth and I learned so much from every single one of them. I’d say that’s an accomplishment. I learned so much about myself and what type of leader I am. So, yes, I am grateful. I know more is coming for me and this is not the end of the road of my leadership journey. With all that being said, I’d love to get back into a leadership role. My expertise is in onboarding/credentialing in a healthcare setting, but I am willing to learn a new industry as well. If you know of any connects, please let me know!

And that is why we made a podcast EXACTLY FOR THIS TOPIC! Check it out: https://lnkd.in/dGr32kMe Please do check it out as we embark on a journey, speaking about these topics in detail. Bad boss situations are always from the following: - Working for a narcissistic individual. - Working for someone who is a stereotypical individual and puts more power on one gender then the other. - Allowing someone to control you both mentally and emotionally at work. Please check this podcast out, it might help. https://lnkd.in/dGr32kMe #leadership #careers

Key word “leader”. Great leaders inspire the best in everyone around them. Select leaders have inspired me to improve the processes of my work and push the limits of my abilities. Leadership is fundamental for culture to thrive.

💯💯💯💯 One of the things I am most proud of is the fact that when I took over my team, turnover was rampant. Since taking over, it is nearly nonexistent. The reason for this, I strongly believe, is because I honestly and truly care about the people on my team...not just as workers, but as people too. I'm here to be their advocate in whatever they need to be their best selves both at work and at home. Sometimes that looks like skill building and professional development because they are looking to grow. Sometimes that's putting in extra hours to make sure they have what they need for our team to grow and change. And, other times, that's being understanding of life situations that mean they can't give 110% to work right now, and that's okay. My team will be the most successful if we all have the opportunity to take care of ourselves when we need it, and that depends on me creating an environment where my team members can truly thrive. I'm here to grow the people in my charge, not burden them and burn them out. #leadership #mentalhealthmatters

3moThanks for sharing that approach, John. Do you know of any job boards that post these types of interim jobs? Or do you recommend just searching job sites for these types of interim roles?
