Here's a question. So the QS 2024 global university rankings just turned up in my news feed. Of course chapeau to the US universities who dominate, led by MIT, yet Britain still makes waves, with 4 UK universities in the top 10 (nice to see my old uni in at No. 2, and the other place at No.3), which notably are considerably cheaper to attend than the great US names. But why is it though that the universities of the mighty EU do so badly by this sort of comparison? The top EU address only just scrapes in at No. 24, and the EU barely manages 4 addresses all told in the top 50 (only half of 'little' Britain's tally). The EU has 28 times the population of Australia, yet the Ozzy unis outperform the EU's with 6 in the top 50. Is it a perhaps language thing? If EU unis want their alumni to get on in the world, should they offer more of their courses in English? https://lnkd.in/eY2m9gmD
