Amidst a (welcomed) scrutinization of the Voluntary Carbon Market it’s important to keep remembering that we cannot stand still while working on improved quality and integrity. Global CO2 levels are still rising. And virgin forests are still being cut down. So, there is not only room for growth as this S&P report states, it’s also imperative corporates act with more ambition and fill that gap.

Natural Climate Solutions (NbS which address climate change), which encompass efforts to restore, protect, and sustainably manage ecosystems, offer a multifaceted approach to addressing climate change AND biodiversity loss AND inequality. 🏭 Despite their promise, corporate investment in NbS remains limited. Few companies outside specific industries prioritize actions to regenerate or restore ecosystems. 📉 Investments in NCS are far below what's necessary, with just a fraction of the required funding originating from the private sector. Public-private partnerships could bridge this gap, fostering greater corporate engagement in NCS and bolstering climate resilience. ℹ️ Understanding ecosystem dependencies is crucial for companies to grasp the risks posed by biodiversity loss and climate change.
