President Brenin and VP Community and Wellbeing Alex went to Westminster this week to lobby MPs, demanding they help support students during the housing crisis.
They had some positive conversations, most notably with Liverpool Local MP, Kim Johnson🗣️

🏠🎓 Affordable housing is essential for student success. A study by the National Low Income Housing Coalition found that students who live in affordable housing are more likely to graduate on time, have higher GPAs, and experience less stress. The government and universities need to work together to ensure that all students have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. #HousingForAll#StudentHousingCrisis college classrooms to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment.

Getting access to good schools can be challenging. A home's location often determines which school its residents can attend. Homes near top-notch school
districts often command a premium for that amenity.
Imagine a school without a daytime custodian. That's what Burnaby schools are facing in the immediate future due to chronic underfunding.
The confluence of higher than projected and increasing student enrollment, underfinanced immigration, insufficient buildings, poor planning, and a fundamentally flawed funding model means Metro Vancouver school districts are running on fumes and will soon be deep in the red.
