(Sent this around the office yesterday) I'm a sucker for a good quote, not just for our own storytelling purposes in the workplace, but also if it's something that can spark some self-examination for anyone on his or her growth journey. Like a lot of good leadership lessons, this one comes from the sports world. Atlanta QB Kirk Cousins had just directed a last-minute drive to lift the Falcons to a road win over Philadelphia on Monday night. You'd think he'd want to celebrate immediately afterward. What he said instead might surprise you. Hit the link below to watch. It's only 19 seconds! I think this is pretty cool. Even if it's fake humility – and it's probably not – Cousins acknowledged his weaknesses and his need to improve and what he needs to do to get there. "I've got to be better," he said at one point. Again, right after a dramatic victory. We all can get better and should be willing to do what it takes to do that. Part of that journey includes making mistakes along the way. If you're in the news business, you're going to misspell a lower third or a word in a web headline, you're going to shoot some video that's a tad out of focus, you're going to mispronounce a word on live television. When those mistakes happen, fix them, learn from them, move on from them, try not to repeat them. And give yourself some grace. When you learn from your mistakes, that is called growing. And when you grow, and the teammate next to you grows, your squad can be unstoppable. Have a great Friday! #mistakes #growth #learning

"There's a lotta new." Truth. Everyday there seems to be "a lotta new." And we gotta keep up, imperfections and all.
