Let's define Augmented, Mixed, and Virtual Reality in simple terms. Imagine a place between real and imaginary worlds. Here's how Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), and Virtual Reality (VR) fit in: AR - You're still seeing the real world through your phone's camera, but apps like Snapchat and Instagram add digital elements, like bunny ears or funny glasses, on top of that real world image. MR - Mixes real and imaginary worlds together. Imagine playing catch with a virtual ball in your living room. An example of MR is what we see in the video below, a real person playing with a virtual block. VR - Takes you to a completely made-up world, everything surrounding you is not real, however looks like it could be, for example standing on Mars or swimming with a mile below the ocean surface, swimming with sharks.
