Malaysian government's attempt to sell a large tract of land in Pulau Indah, previously owned by 1MDB. This is the third attempt to sell the land in nine years, with previous efforts in 2015 and 2019 failing. The land is designated as a free trade zone (FTZ) and has good connectivity for development. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) hopes to fetch a higher price (RM497 million - RM559 million) compared to previous attempts due to increased interest in industrial land and improved infrastructure. The sale will be conducted through an Expression of Interest (EOI) followed by bids from shortlisted parties. The Devil of Malaysia at one time encouraged the Look East policy in hopes for the Asian kitten (sometimes labelled as one of the Asian Tigers) to emulate the progressive and advanced nature of the people from the land of the rising sun. Now, in what appears to be like a repeat of a chorus but of differing stripes is supported officially by the Republic across the Straits. Even Singaporeans themselves laud the move as they have finally found Johor Bahru to be a destination that provides more than just their favourite grocery hunting ground and a little R&R. This time, post-Covid-19, they are convinced that it may be the best place to stretch their powerful Sing dollar, and their legs and necks too given the roomier space. Like an uncontrollable rifle firing at will, the media is abuzz with positive bullets flying in every direction. The good news is, the active market is promising more and more by the day, casino or not and whether the forest is haunted or otherwise. Johor's property statistics leapfrogged ahead with incredible numbers that only Johoreans are privileged to witness. The rest of the country can only hold their breath and jaw looking in awe of the southern state's progress. News like this is just a taste of what is to come; it's not the first and it will certainly not be the last, not at least for the next 5 years. Make hay whilst the sun shines they say. What say you? https://lnkd.in/gqkQvTi8

The State Government has engaged in dialogue sessions with industry players in Johor to explore the region's potential sectors and incentives for conducting business in the JS-SEZ. Recent official visits to various regional countries, particularly China, demonstrate the State Government's commitment to ensuring the success of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, mirroring the achievements of the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Special Economic Zone. With Johor being a strategically positioned and thriving location, it comes as no surprise that the region has seen RM113.7 billion in approved investments for 2022-2023. This figure accounts for nearly 20% of the country's total approved investments of RM597.2 billion for the same period. These collective efforts are aimed at inspiring confidence and enthusiasm among all stakeholders, with the ultimate goal of generating benefits, economic prosperity, and ample job opportunities for the people of Johor. #InvestJohor #MajuJohor #Johor #Investment #MajuJohor2030 #JSSEZ

Trees in the city. The dilemma of every landscape profession nowadays in Malaysia. The unpredictable weather has come as a challenge that has resulted in a life threat to the road consumer. The selection of trees to be planted on the roadside is deemed crucial. I hope JLN or other institutions will conduct special study on the best species for the roadside and narrow streets, especially in urban areas. 📍EDL Highway, Johor Bahru.
