For all you plant people, the USPTO has updated Patent Center to include a specific track for plant patents. Before you can say "asexual reproduction," your application will be filed - as long as you pay the 220 USD basic filing fee. #intellectualproperty

How long does it take to obtain a patent? The typical application process timeline of a US Patent is shown below. Due to the backlog in the USPTO, once a patent application is filed it can take over 1 year before the application is even assigned to a US Patent Examiner.
