🎯Developing Essential Skills for C-Suite Success 📈 Forbes reveals a sobering reality: despite increasing African American leadership, C-Suite representation remains disproportionately low and highlights a crucial need for developing essential skills for C-suite positions. Tracy Lawrence, CEO of The Lawrence Advisory, underscores the importance of understanding and developing the essential skills needed to rise to the C-suite, noting that "the job of a CEO is very different from what got you there." 💡 Tips: 1️⃣ Focus on developing leadership skills beyond your functional expertise. 2️⃣ Build a diverse skill set including strategic thinking, communication, and relationship management. 3️⃣ Seek opportunities for cross-functional experiences to broaden your perspective. 4️⃣ Focus on your work and results, but also on managing how others perceive your style and commitment. 5️⃣ Seek mentorship & sponsorship from successful Black executives who have navigated similar challenges. 🚨 Call to Action: Identify one skill you want to develop further and create a plan to enhance it within the next month. #LeadershipDevelopment #CareerGrowth #CorporateSuccess #InclusiveLeadership #ExecutiveCoaching

Couldn't agree more that CPOs and CTOs are massively undervalued. But there's another thing we should consider: tailoring these roles to fit each company's specific needs. One size doesn't fit all! A CPO in a B2B SaaS company might focus on customer success, while one in consumer electronics might be all about product design and UX. Same for CTOs—their role should depend on factors like company size and tech stack. Customizing these roles lets CPOs and CTOs play to their strengths, driving better business outcomes. So let's not just appreciate them—let's empower them by designing roles that unleash their full potential and fuel innovation! Thanks for your insight here Mark Long 🙏🏽 #saas #productleadership #tech #revenue #customersuccess

There is a profound misunderstanding of CPOs and CTOs by many CEOs (& wider CSuite) across the UK and Europe. Since the Chesky V Reis debate we’ve interviewed 100s of CEOs, it appears that a significant disconnect exists—not just in understanding these critical roles but in linking them directly to revenue, especially in a down market and times are hard. This is a Problem, or is it? How can top executives expect to drive innovation and growth when they can't even grasp the strategic value of their own product and technology leaders? This isn’t just a gap in knowledge; it’s a gap in strategic thinking. I think the undervaluation of tech and product roles is not just a misstep; it’s a threat to our industry, especially when the market tightens. While some might double down and pull away from innovation in tough times, I argue that this is exactly when investment in tech and product becomes even more crucial. These are not merely support roles but the foundation of the future for all of us. So, to business leaders: Start valuing your tech and product teams as strategic assets. Understand their work. Connect the dots. These roles need to be defended and appreciated, not sidelined, or merged (CPTO, etc.). Are CPOs and CTOs getting the recognition they deserve? #Leadership #Innovation #Tech #CPO #CTO

More is expected out of middle management than ever before. Managers are squeezed in-between high-ratio direct reporting structures and high-expectation executive leadership, while simultaneously drowning in corporate change. Dell just reportedly laid off nearly 13,000 this week and according to Business Insider sources, “It was mostly managers, directors and VPs." ... "They combined organizations and also made the ratio higher for the managers. Now every manager has a minimum of 15 employees.” 🕛 NOW is the time to: - increase your leadership profile - forge key relationships and expand your circle of influence - learn new storytelling methods for showing your teams strategic and financial value
