🎄 Did you know that artificial Christmas trees can take hundreds of years to break down in landfills? And that studies show a fake tree has nearly three times the climate impact of a real one? With the holiday season in full swing, many of us are asking: What’s the most sustainable option for a Christmas tree? 🌍 We dug into the research with our sustainability expert Katre Kahre, and here’s what we discovered: • ✨ A real tree is often the better choice for the environment.   While artificial trees may seem sustainable because they’re reusable, studies show they need to be used for at least 20 years to offset their environmental impact.   In reality, most are used for just six years before they’re discarded. • ✨ Real trees, especially those sourced from RMK (Estonian State Forest Management), are often removed from areas where they’re already causing issues (like under power lines).   This approach minimizes harm to the environment while also supporting sustainable forest management. 🌲 • ✨ At events, RMK rents small trees from their plantations to decorate stages, info desks, and other areas.   It’s a practical and eco-friendly way to create a festive atmosphere.    𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻? For over six years, we’ve reused the same cardboard Christmas tree in our office, designed by our talented in-house designer Kristi Tamming. A timeless design and a sustainable choice we’re proud of! 💛 📣 Katre’s ultimate tip → Instead of buying a tree, decorate the natural ones growing in your garden. It’s creative, waste-free, and kind to the planet. How are you making your holidays more sustainable this year? Share your ideas below → we’d love to hear them! 🌟 #sustainability #realvsfake #jolos
