PCOD or Polycystic Ovarian Disease happens when your ovaries release eggs that have not been able to mature fully. These eggs remain inside your body and, over time, turn into cysts. The symptoms of PCOD can range from irregular periods to pelvic pain to excessive facial hair to obesity to infertility. It is usually caused due to hormonal imbalances. What we eat can go a long way in helping us manage the symptoms of this disease. Here’s what we recommend: Nuts & seeds: In PCOD, your body’s insulin levels often become elevated and lead to inflammation and other metabolic complications. Almonds, peanuts, cashew nuts, pistachios, flaxseeds, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds and the like are known to help reduce & regulate the body’s insulin levels. Leafy greens: Low in calories and high in fibre, green leafy vegetables such as spinach, fenugreek, lettuce etc. can help in weight management – a common challenge for PCOD patients. Besides, they help in reducing inflammation and balancing our body’s hormones. Healthy fats: Obesity is a common symptom of PCOD and eating healthy fats can help control it. Since they slow down the digestion of sugar, healthy fats play their part in curbing our hunger pangs. #HexaHealth #SurgerySimplified #Surgery #WeCARE #surgeons #doctors #health #pcod #pcos #polycysticovaries #infertility #irregularperiods #menstrualproblems #pcoddietplan #pcodtreatment #hormonalimbalance

Case Report of an uncommon Dilated Cardiomyopathy in a Cat. A 7-year-old Sphynx female cat was presented after delivering 5 kittens and was on Furosemide as she had been previously diagnosed with a heart problem. The cat was lethargic, had labored breathing, and exhibited muffled heart sounds. The cat was stabilized in an O2 chamber, and Furosemide was administered. TFAST showed a shred sign with B lines, pleural effusion was voided with a butterfly catheter and syringe, and almost 100ml of clear fluid was extracted. The breathing pattern considerably improved thereafter. Echocardiography revealed both ventricles dilated with poor contractility, an enormously dilated left atrium, LA/Ao >2, Pulmonary artery velocity 0.4m/s, and Ao Velocity 0.4-0.5m/s. Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) is uncommon in cats and is characterized by systolic myocardial failure. Taurine deficiency was identified as the primary cause of DCM in cats. The cause of taurine deficiency in cats is primarily nutritional. Upon inquiry about the cat's diet, the owner mentioned they are feeding it home-cooked food. A commercial food with taurine was recommended, and the cat was sent home with Pimobendan, Furosemide, and clopidogrel.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease also known as GERD for short is a chronic digestive condition in which stomach acid and other contents flow back (reflux) into the esophagus. Normally, after swallowing, the LES closes tightly to prevent stomach acid from flowing backward into the esophagus. However, in people with GERD, the LES may relax abnormally or weaken, allowing stomach acid and digestive enzymes to reflux into the esophagus. This reflux can occur intermittently or persistently, leading to chronic symptoms.
