Posting a summary of a book saying "I read XYZ so you don't have to", is like posting a picture of your fine-dining meal and saying, "I ate at a 3-star Michelin restaurant so you don't have to". #socialmedia #mba #businessschools

I've just published a personal story on Medium inspired by Frank Bruni's recent The New York Times article on how chefs are redefining their careers. As a former restaurant owner and current partner with Brian Driscoll in DRISCOLL Cuisine & Cocktail Concepts, I’ve witnessed firsthand how talented chefs are stepping away from the grind and finding creative freedom in new ventures. Curious about how this shift is reshaping the industry? Check out my latest piece here! #restaurants #smallbiz #chefs

Words of Wisdom for April 4, 2024: Making decisions in life is like reviewing a dinner menu at a restaurant. You weigh the cost of those dishes you desire against the price you must pay for them. Some people just order what they want and never consider the price they must pay for their decisions. Others never take a chance on some dream out of fear that they will regret the price they paid. Knowing who you are, what you want and planning for your goals will make decision making so much easier. When you go in that restaurant, know what you want and have your budget in mind. You will make great decisions.

I recently came across this insightful article by Mr Prakash Iyer on the 'Tomato Sauce Principle', inspired by the journey of Danny Meyer, founder of Union Square Hospitality Group. Just like good tomatoes are the foundation of delicious sauce, hiring and nurturing the best talent forms the backbone of successful businesses. Mr Prakash beautifully encapsulates how Meyer's commitment to hiring exceptional people and caring for them has not only elevated his ventures but also nurtured a legacy of industry leaders. The following are some must-read books, including the one by Danny Meyer, on this subject for entrepreneurs and leaders with link to get them: 1. "Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business" by Danny Meyer https://lnkd.in/gyT2-rJW 2. "Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap...And Others Don't" by Jim Collins https://lnkd.in/gHnVYn9E 3. "The Culture Code: The Secrets of Highly Successful Groups" by Daniel Coyle https://lnkd.in/g96SQbi8 4. "Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don't" by Simon Sinek https://lnkd.in/guZfNPbv Happy reading. #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #BusinessSuccess"

Danny Mayer is the founder of Shake Shack - a popular chain of fast food / casual dining restaurants. Danny loved the tomato sauce his grandmother made. And her recipe for the sauce - and her advice - became the mantra for the hugely successful business he built. Lessons that could work for us all as we look to build great teams. And great businesses. That’s in my column in BW Businessworld. Take a look. And yes, what’s the piece of advice you received as a kid - that still impacts your thinking and your actions? Keen to hear! #leadershiptips #hiringtips
