David Rosenberg cautioned that data points to an impending recession that is looming and John T Chang delivering hopeful optimism of the landscape ahead and "keeping our eyes on the horizon" for long-term opportunities. Joe Fairless brought encouragement through letting us in on his personal approaches on a gratitude mindset and focusing on things within our control in challenging times. The rest of the conference consisted of sessions from various speakers across 3 tracks: Passive Investor, Operator and Entrepreneur. There were also fun debates on stage with experts on whether commercial real estate will see the same kind of returns as before 2022, and a Pitch Slam where various operators had the chance to win up to $600k in investment capital into their deals. Lastly, the networking was definitely next level. What I love the most about the conference, is that the actual conference doesn't sell anything like a mentorship course or program. Everyone there represents themselves and their companies, and pretty much everyone in the room are friends just looking to take each other the next level in their businesses. Many of the partners I've worked with were there, so having the face time to say hi and catch up was definitely invaluable! Whether you are an LP, GP/operator or just curious about learning more about real estate, especially commercial real estate, I highly recommend checking it out next year. Once again, we had the pleasure of hosting the annual VIP drinks reception at our Amsterdam office in collaboration with the Private Equity Insights. This evening brought together GPs, LPs and service providers to meet, talk and learn with and from each other. The VIP reception was the perfect kickoff for the PE Insights Benelux conference in Amsterdam. During the conference, we hosted an engaging panel discussion on the topic "GP Stakes Unlocked: Trends, Deals, and Strategic Implications". Our esteemed panelists, Allard Ruijs, Sander Slootweg, Anna Ferguson, and Antoinette van der Hauw, along with our moderator Michaël Maters delivered insightful discussions.
