New Post: Garth Brooks, Morgan Wallen, Taylor Swift & More Artists With Most Weeks at No. 1 on Top Country Albums Chart: Full List - https://lnkd.in/gH9vc-eY - Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time returns to No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart (dated Oct. 12), which ups Wallen’s career tally of weeks at No. 1 to 158 – a total topped by only one artist in the chart’s more than 60-year history. You can probably guess who it is, but we’re going to make you scroll through the list to find out for sure. Wallen’s achievement is especially impressive because he has amassed this hefty total of weeks at No. 1 in such a short amount of time. He first topped the chart on Aug. 15, 2020. Top Country Albums originated as Hot Country Albums in the Jan. 11, 1964 issue of Billboard. Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire (The Best of Johnny Cash) headed the inaugural chart. The compilation was well-timed: “Ring of Fire” had headed Hot Country Songs for seven weeks the previous summer and had crossed over to reach the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. The chart was named Hot Country LP’s from 1968 to 1984, when vinyl LPs were king. Twenty-one artists have logged 50 or more weeks at No. 1 on Top Country Albums. Male solo artists dominate, as you might expect, though three female solo artists have achieved the feat, as have two groups. (One of those groups is an all-female group.) Only one Black artist has amassed 50 or more weeks at No. 1, though that may change as country becomes more inclusive. Here’s a look at all artists who have topped Top Country Albums for 50 or more weeks. - #news #business #world #jobs #school #passion

This is a remarkable tale that I thought was common knowledge, but a distinguished musician friend was amazed to hear it. So - here it is. A great pal of mine is a very talented chap called Miki Dallon who started his musical career the same way that I did - as a singer and musician. Miki used to call me and him : the Young Turks, because in those days we thought we were immortal and nothing was impossible. Whilst I went for the salaried plus royalties option of working for record labels, Miki decided to plough his own furrow and started his own publishing and production companies, plus his own label called Young Blood Records. He was successful too, with a variety of projects. Now comes the bit I first referred to : Miki had an Australian band called Python Lee Jackson who had this song called In A Broken Dream which he and I both thought was a smash if we could get on tape what we could hear in our heads. Miki and the band were in Phillips Studios at Marble Arch and, after 2 days the track was all there, but the band’s singer could not get the raspy lead vocal that Miki wanted, to get it perfect. After the band had gone back to the hotel, Miki had this idea that he wanted a voice like Rod Stewart to sing it. So he thought, why not try and get him ? Rod was a friend, so Miki called his office and, with serendipity, Rod happened to be in the West End. Rod came into the studio and nailed it in one take. So then, the business side, as Miki told Rod that he needed to pay him something for his performance. Rod said that he didn’t want paying money as it would go through the books and agents and managers would want a cut. Miki has always loved buying and selling cars (he still does) and knew that Rod had just bought a new car which was his pride and joy, and Rod told him that he wanted a set of sheepskin seat covers. So they shook hands on it. The record becomes a big International hit. Rod Stewart sang one his most iconic recorded performances for a set of sheepskin seat covers for a metallic silver Ford Cortina 1600E … Time passes, the band are gone, Rod is now a worldwide superstar with a new heavyweight manager in Billy Gaff, the single gets re-released and is a bigger hit than before. Miki gets a phone call from Billy demanding an substantial retrospective royalty, but Miki said that he had an agreement and to check with Rod. Rod, bless him said : ‘Absolutely, we had a deal that we shook hands on and, at the time I thought I was the dog’s bollocks sitting on sheepskin.’ A true gentleman. This version of the song you may not have heard before. It is a killer version as it also features some beautiful guitar from David Gilmour. #YoungBlood #MikiDallon #RodStewart #DavidGilmour

New Post: Queen, Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé and the Albums With the Most Weeks at No. 1 on Top Catalog Albums - https://lnkd.in/gj3uCNd3 - Taylor Swift’s Lover logs its 64rd week at No. 1 on Billboard’s Catalog Albums chart this week (dated Oct. 12), extending its record for the longest run by a woman solo artist in the chart’s history. Lover eclipsed Adele’s debut album, 19, in May. Lover didn’t get all that much love (at least by Swift’s sky-high standards) when it was released. The album spent just one week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and was passed over for a Grammy nod for album of the year (though it did receive a Grammy nod for best pop vocal album). But the belated success of “Cruel Summer,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks starting in October 2023, more than four years after the album’s release, has revived the album. The phenomenal success of the Eras Tour has also kept it high on the charts. The Catalog Albums chart ranks the week’s most popular catalog albums in the U.S. Catalog albums are titles that are older than 18 months old and have fallen below No. 100 on the Billboard 200 — or holiday albums in their second holiday season. The chart was introduced in Billboard in the issue dated May 25, 1991. For the first 18 years of Top Catalog Albums, catalog albums weren’t eligible to appear on the Billboard 200. That changed with the Dec. 5, 2009-dated chart, when catalog restrictions were lifted, turning the Billboard 200 into an all-inclusive list of the best-selling albums in the country, regardless of their age. (The adjustment came after Michael Jackson’s death in June 2009, which triggered a sales explosion for his catalog titles. Jackson’s catalog compilation Number Ones was the best-selling album in six of the first seven weeks following his death, yet was ineligible for Billboard’s flagship chart – marking the first time a catalog album had outsold the No. 1 album on the Billboard 200.) Starting with the issue dated Dec. 13, 2014, Billboard shifted from pure sales to a multi-factor consumption formula that also includes on-demand streaming and digital track sales. We’re going to count down the 17 albums with the longest runs at No. 1 on Catalog Albums from 1991 to the present. It’s an eclectic list, to say the least. It includes two Christmas albums, a film soundtrack and a remarkably wide range of music, including pop, traditional pop, rock, hard rock, R&B, rap, country and reggae. Eight of the albums on the list were released prior to the 1991 inception of the chart. Impressively, they made the list even though activity prior to the chart’s inception doesn’t count. Here are the albums with the longest runs at No. 1 on Catalog Albums from 1991 to the present. Each entry includes the album’s release date, the date the album first reached No. 1 on Ca
