This new method will update the existing 2014 version, which expires on 1 October 2024. That’s why our recommendations to the Department focus on ensuring the method works for farmers and landholders with small to medium-sized projects (under 200 hectares). Our recommendations are based on our experience and best practice to ensure the method is practical for on-ground implementation and continued confidence in the scheme. By refining the proposed method, we can create a more inclusive and effective approach to carbon farming. 🌍 The Journey of Wastewater Treatment Continues 💧 In my previous post, I shared insights into the crucial role wastewater treatment plays in creating a sustainable future. Today, I’m excited to provide an update on the progress we've made and the lessons we’re learning along the way. Our ongoing efforts have focused on maximizing resource recovery, improving efficiency in treatment processes, and ensuring the treated water supports environmental and agricultural sustainability. One notable highlight has been integrating treated wastewater for irrigation, which not only enhances greenery but also supports local agriculture—a step closer to a circular water economy. Building on this, we’re working on an Irrigation Master Plan that will cover the entire Mission Area camps, ensuring a green and vibrant environment for everyone. This plan is designed to leverage treated wastewater to nurture flowers, trees, and other greenery, transforming the camps into sustainable and aesthetically pleasing spaces. Of course, this work is not without its challenges. From optimizing operations to engaging communities in adopting sustainable practices, every step has underscored the importance of teamwork, innovation, and adaptability. As we push forward, I’m reminded that wastewater is not waste; it’s a resource waiting to be reclaimed. I look forward to collaborating with more professionals and organizations dedicated to making this vision a reality.
