I'm thrilled to share that the BIO International Convention is currently taking place at the San Diego Convention Center from June 3-6, 2024. This premier event is bringing together over 18,500 industry leaders, researchers, and innovators from all corners of the world, making it the largest and most influential gathering in the biotechnology industry. The energy here is palpable as we dive into four days filled with networking, insightful discussions, and cutting-edge exhibitions. One of the highlights is the BIO One-on-One Partnering™ system, which is facilitating thousands of meetings between attendees. This tool is a game-changer, helping us make meaningful connections and explore potential collaborations that could shape the future of biotech. The educational sessions and panel discussions have been nothing short of inspiring. Topics cover everything from the latest scientific breakthroughs in gene editing and regenerative medicine to strategic business insights and regulatory developments. It’s incredible to hear from some of the brightest minds in our field and gain insights that can drive our own projects forward. Walking through the exhibition hall, I'm amazed by the innovative technologies and services on display. It's a vivid reminder of how fast our industry is evolving and the immense potential we have to address global challenges in healthcare, climate change, and food security. For anyone in the biotech field, the BIO International Convention is an unmissable event. It's not just about staying current with industry trends; it's about being part of a community that's driving real change and innovation. If you're here in San Diego, I'd love to connect and share our experiences. And for those who couldn’t make it this year, I highly recommend keeping an eye on the highlights and insights that will be shared online. Here’s to a week of inspiration, collaboration, and groundbreaking advancements in biotechnology! 🌟 #BIO2024 #Biotech #Innovation #Networking #SanDiego

Under the motto "Seed and Succeed 🌱," BIOTECH AUSTRIA invited to its 3rd Biotech Circle Austria at the Wiener Boerse this morning. Norbert Bischofberger delivered an inspiring talk, addressing the disparities between the biotech funding landscape in the US and Europe, followed by a lively panel discussion, with some thought-provoking questions. 𝘋𝘰 𝘸𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘸 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘢𝘪𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘶𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥? 𝘐𝘴 𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 "𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥" 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 "𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵"? I believe that we have fantastic scientific achievements 🔬 and success stories in Austria, yet perhaps we sometimes lack the confidence(?) to effectively communicate them to a wider audience. Let’s dare to be a little bit bolder, think bigger, and also embrace failures without fear. We can only truly convince others of Austria being a great place for biotech when we are convinced ourselves! Thank you, BIOTECH AUSTRIA for organizing such a great event! #BCA2024 #BiotechAustria #Science

From Exhibition Halls to Ecosystem Insights: My BioAsia Journey 🧬🔬 Have you ever wondered how a single conference can reshape your professional landscape? Some of the most transformative professional moments happen in spaces we least expect. For those navigating the complex world of life sciences and professional networking, every conference is more than just an event—it's a pivotal connection point. Over four remarkable years (2019-2023), I had the incredible opportunity to serve as a Trade Exhibitor and Organization Team Member for the BioAsia-Telangana Life Sciences Global Bio Business Forum and visit the Genome Valley (India’s first organized cluster for Life Sciences R&D). It was a transformative experience that redefined my understanding of the biotech ecosystem. What started as a role quickly transformed into a profound learning experience: ◽ 2019: My first step into the global biotechnology network and Genome Valley Visit. ◽ 2020: Bridged connections between innovative biotechnology professionals ◽ 2023: Witnessed the pulse of emerging life science ecosystems firsthand, which helped me emerge stronger, more connected, and more inspired Each conference was a microcosm of innovation, where ideas collided, networks expanded, and future collaborations were born. The beauty of professional growth isn't just in the roles we play but also in the stories we collect and the connections we nurture. #TelanganaLifeSciences #GenomeValley #ProfessionalGrowth #BiotechInnovation #NetworkingInsights #FutureOfHealthcare

AusBiotech 2024 promotes innovation, collaboration, commercialisation and equalisation. Reflecting on the themes of last week's events in Melbourne, we were inspired by the economic and social impact Australia's life sciences sector is having, and by the increasing role of new technologies in addressing healthcare inequities. We valued the opportunity to network with industry peers, explore new projects, and strengthen existing ones, setting the stage for an exciting 2025. Throughout the week we attended and sponsored several engaging events. We thank: • Invest Victoria and Global Victoria for their networking luncheon to welcome AmCham Australia, and their Victorian Networking Reception for health, biotech and life sciences professionals, at which welcome addresses were delivered by The Hon. Tim Pallas and Dr Amanda Caples. • MTPConnect, Nucleus Network and Global R&D Pty Ltd for partnering with us to present ‘The Australian Advantage’ to the visiting delegation from Korea, Japan and Taiwan. • AusBiotech CEO, Rebekah Cassidy, and Federal Minister for Health and Aged Care, The Hon. Mark Butler MP, for their keynote addresses on the opening day of the conference. • AusBiotech and BioMelbourne Network for both their networking event and the establishment of their new MOU which will strengthen collaboration between the two organisations and benefit our industry. • AusBiotech for recognising the life and achievements of Dr Iris Depaz from Sanofi, both through The Depaz Oration and the establishment of the Iris Depaz Award, following her sad passing. • Life Sciences Queensland Ltd (LSQ), in particular Natalie Davis and Sally Dillon, for their networking evening. It is always great to connect with Queensland industry colleagues and partners. We are already looking forward to next year’s meeting and the incredible progress we will have made as an industry by this time. #AusBiotech2024 #lifesciences #biotechnology #innovation #collaboration #commercialisation #equalisation #clinicaltrials #TheAustralianAdvantage

Synbiobeta last week was awesome! Maybe one of the best conferences I have attended. Not only were there talks by great scientists like Paul Stamets 🍄 and Craig Venter (picture below), but I reconnected with fermentation people at Genencor/DuPont/IFF, and BASF. Furthermore, I was able to meet many other innovators/service providers/investors during the conference. I feel very blessed to have spent two decades in this field. Although summarizing what I saw in bullet points is difficult, here it goes: • The conference felt very commercial in comparison to when it started, and not in a bad way. This is an indication that biotech has evolved over the past decade from the abstract or medical to the very practical. • The ecosystem is vibrant. There are many start-ups, service providers, innovators and investors from different countries all under one roof. To be candid, I was gladly surprised to see a couple of the Fortune 500 companies I worked for in the conference. • AI 🧠 is impacting everything including biotech. Although there are a lot of initiatives only time will tell which ones are the ones that will pan out commercially. Huge shout-out to Ginkgo Bioworks, Inc. and SynBioBeta for providing our start-up with a grant so that we could attend. I won't tag names, but building a start-up, just like raising a child 👶, takes a village. #synbio #synbiobeta #biotech #fermentation
