This is what REAL global community looks like, and why my version of #digitalnomadism is NEVER lonely... 🌎 🌎 🌎 The past month I traveled from Mexico to Miami to Portugal. Here's a sample of meaningful interactions while on the road: MIAMI 🇺🇸 ⦿ Saw the Celtics game with a former IBM colleague Michael ⦿ Connected with James & Julian from my men’s group ⦿ Caught up with past client Shankha (who let me do laundry) ⦿ Grabbed lunch with Aaron D from my first Remote Year trip LISBON 🇵🇹 ⦿ Stayed at Nicole's coliving from The Dynamite Circle ⦿ MC'd the Running Remote meeting 100s of friends IRL ⦿ Woke up at 7am to get workouts in with Chase ⦿ Stayed with Ken and his family post conference ⦿ Biked down to meet with John in Cascais ⦿ Sean from Remote Year offered a place to stay ⦿ Kenneth offered up his place when I needed a shower ⦿ 🚤 🌅 Nini, Matthew, Jan, Stephanie, Samia, Nienke, Michelle, Kenneth, Maaria MADEIRA ISLAND 🇵🇹 ⦿ First time experiencing an Outsite coliving community ⦿ Jumped off a pier into the ocean with Gonçalo ⦿ Hosting a dinner and eyeConnect - stronger than wifi. game: Grayson, Jinny, Derrek, Michelle, Darcy, Dan, Lise --- What’s my secret to cultivating friendships all over the world while traveling? COMMUNITY AND INTENTION. 1. I’m part of awesome communities with people that have shared mindsets and values (faves: The Dynamite Circle, Nomad Cruise, Remote Year, Running Remote) 2. I’m extremely intentional about reaching out in these groups and to people prior to arrival, I put together my own events to combine communities, and then I stay in touch after leaving. --- TRUE #COMMUNITY ISN'T ABOUT... Grand gestures. Global community, for me, is about the small lifelines during travel. It's the "I'm in between Airbnbs" requests, like: - Can I drop my bags? - Want to grab lunch? - Mind if I do laundry? - Have an extra room? - I NEED A SHOWER 😂 This is what global community is all about! What are yours? #TheRemoteJobCoach

Loving this post and couldn't agree more! From an offline perspective, what I learned is that when you have genuine "internet" friends across the globe, there is always someone awake to celebrate with or ask support for. Global communities are 💎💙
What are past clients good for if they don’t let you do laundry while you’re in town 😂
You’ve got an energy about you Jordan that’s awesome to be around. Super grateful for letting me join in on the Madeira fun! Til next time buddy!
You did need that shower ;) I applaud your intentionality in building connection. I'll be stealing a couple of pages from the Jordan Carroll playbook!
Beautiful post! Your answer to one of the questions In the eye connect game really stuck with me too. “I make me happy. I’m responsible for my own happiness.”- you did this, you created this life. Congratulations 🎉
Nothing beats a nice shower when on the move! I’ve made it to PDC if you come back and want to meet up.
Can I just like this post again 🥺 This is brilliant!! And I couldn't agree more 🙌 Currently finding myself on the third continent this week and just bouncing around like a little unicorn on a rainbow cloud 🌈🦄 - feeling full of gratitude to call the world my home and have meaningful relationships, friendships & communities all over this big spinning blue ball 🌍 Ironically, people often think we must be lonely as 'restless' Digital Nomads while we're actually abundant of social connections & a home in every country! SO grateful to be a new add-on to YOUR global network with eyeConnect - stronger than wifi...and as 'me' :)
Can’t express how much I love this post! As we become more and more global, it is so important to make real connections with people. Working remotely doesn’t mean disconnecting from the world, to the contrary, it is about discovering new communities, new places, and most importantly, new things about oneself at every stop. 🗺️
