A very pertinent article by ICEF Monitor highlights the emergence of new destination markets such as Thailand in the realm of international education. As someone who hails from humble backgrounds in Laos, where higher education has historically lacked global recognition, my own journey to study in Bangkok resonates deeply with the points raised in the article. Quality education, affordability, and the rich cultural experience are indeed significant attractions for students seeking overseas study opportunities. However, I'd like to further emphasize the role of partnerships with internationally acclaimed institutes, which greatly enhance the appeal and credibility of educational offerings in Thailand. Here are a few examples: - Degree Certification and Joint Degrees within Thailand: Dusit Thani College exemplifies this approach with programs like their BBA in Hotel and Resort Management, certified by the prestigious EHL, and their joint degree with Le Cordon Bleu for BA in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management.Double Degree Programs: Institutions like Rangsit University International College have pioneered successful double degree programs. These initiatives typically involve students spending three years at their Thai campus and concluding their bachelor's degree with partner schools abroad. Examples include partnerships with De Montfort University, University of the West of England, and the University of Wollongong to name a few. Such collaborations not only enrich the educational experience but also provide students with globally recognized qualifications, enhancing their employability on the international stage. As for the educators' side, the benefits are wide, improving brand visibility, expanding recruitment efforts without having to invest in a campus abroad and alleviating pressure on the application teams, thanks to pre-qualified students who have gone through an approved curriculum beforehand. In conclusion, the rise of Thailand as a destination market for education is not merely due to its inherent appeal but also owing much to the strategic partnerships forged with esteemed institutions worldwide. As Thailand continues to solidify its position as a hub for quality education, these partnerships will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in shaping its trajectory on the global stage, especially considering the current policy changes in many top study destinations. #ICEF South East Asia presents a prime opportunity for international institutes to connect with Thai universities and vice-versa, fostering further collaboration and elevating Thailand's position in the global education landscape. #internationaleducation #thailand #icefmonitor

The Rising Importance of Singapore in International Student Mobility Recent findings by ICEF highlight a growing trend of international students exploring alternative destinations beyond the traditional choices of the UK, Australia, and Canada. Asia, particularly Singapore, is emerging as a key player in this shift. The political and social stability, presence of global headquarters and regional offices, strong innovation ecosystem, and unparalleled global connectivity make Singapore an attractive destination for serious students seeking true educational engagement. However, this growing interest in Singapore comes with increased scrutiny. PEIs are now faced with competition not just within their private education sector but also against the seven Singapore government universities, five polytechnics, and various government-linked specialized institutions. Despite the lack of education funding from the Ministry of Education to the private education sector, PEIs must strive toward better quality standards and authentic, impactful learning outcomes. The statistics are telling: Only 20 PEIs hold Edutrust Provisional Certification, while about 100 have maintained the prestigious 4-year Edutrust Certification over several years, out of an average of 300 PEIs since 2010. To remain competitive and attract high-quality international students, PEIs must invest in educational technology, enhance their academic teams, and commit to continuous improvement. This investment not only helps in gaining Edutrust certification but also meets the rising demands for quality education from international university partnerships. The days of recruiting for the sake of merely issuing qualifications are numbered. If PEIs continue with this business model, they will attract poor-quality students, leading to operational challenges, academic plagiarism issues, and student conduct and ethical concerns. These issues will inevitably invite deeper regulatory governance. As a strategic advisor and consultant for PEIs, I strongly advocate for embracing these changes. Serious institutions should leverage the Edutrust certification as a benchmark to elevate their educational offerings, ensuring they attract and retain the best students. The future of international student mobility is bright for those willing to innovate and uphold the highest standards of educational excellence. #Education #StudentMobility #Singapore #Edutrust #HigherEducation #InternationalStudents #EducationConsulting #InnovationInEducation #EdTech https://lnkd.in/giw5SZUk

Why People Should Consider Singapore for Their Further Studies I am literally obsessed with Singapore, but I don't know the exact reason for my obsession. However, there are some major factors that make me dream of studying in Singapore. People often ask, "Why only Singapore? What's there in Singapore?" Before I dive into the reasons, let me share an interesting fact: India has 144 islands, and Singapore is about the size of one of those islands. The ‘Lion City’ boasts a highly respected education system, ensuring high student satisfaction and security. For students who love traveling and exploring, Singapore offers a wealth of attractions, including a UNESCO World Heritage Site, art galleries, parks, and museums. 8moSuper interesting, particularly for me personally right now. My son is nearly 17 and starting to think about what he's going to do after A levels. He's looking at studying overseas (NOT at a university in the UK) & going to a university in Asia is not outside the realm of possibility!
