Here's why I think #AI is still hype. Yes, it's everywhere but is it universally useful? It takes a technology 3 generations before it reaches a price point in utility to be valuable. Think iPhone 3G, Tesla 3, Windows 3, Intel 286 architecture (after the 4004 and 8008), ChatGPT only really spread after v3. I could go on... About 30 years ago, I made the observation above (and no one I know at the time was discussing). It's why I'm not bullish on AI, yet. There are no clear V3 versions that build on the current AI platforms. I might also add the V4 and above tends not to have the same degree of growth. eg has Windows or iPhone been significantly transformational past their v3 versions? So why is this important? I think we need to be both objective and thoughtful about the scope, scale and impact of AI and not get caught up in the hype. I could say the same for Crypto too. A good way to judge hype from reality it is to check in on versions. It's a 30 year old rule that hasn't let me down yet. Something to think about. Do you agree?

Nvidia and other GenAI stocks took another beating on Friday in part based on a Goldman Sachs report that warned of falling usage at ChatGPT's url. This weekend, sleuths have discovered the real problem, OpenAI changed the URL! Predictably, blending the two shows increased, not decreased usage! Oopsie! GenAI is the new compute, its adoption rate exceeds the iPhone. Expect this number to keep rising! source: https://lnkd.in/gwR2W7B4

#Apple 's recent decision to integrate #OpenAI at the #OS level is a strategic masterstroke. Previously perceived as lagging in #AI, they've deftly leapfrogged the competition, saving themselves years of development. Leveraging their formidable brand power and massive #iPhone user base, Apple orchestrated this move under the guise of "Apple Intelligence," which, ironically, proves their intelligence in avoiding reinventing the AI wheel. #ElonMusk's controversial response, banning Apple devices from his companies due to OpenAI integration, seems excessive. While prioritizing data security is valid, the extremity of Faraday cages and blanket bans raises practicality concerns. It appears more driven by personal discontent than pragmatic security measures, potentially causing significant inconvenience without assured effectiveness. As I enjoy #GoogleGemini on #myPixel, witnessing these #StrategicMove #AIIntegration #TechPartnership developments unfold is fascinating. #chagpt

Apple Inc. Addressed the AI vs creativity battle head-on, in relation to their new advert ‘Crush’. Recently, they also did the right thing, by listening and responding to the noise in the ether and accepted that their advert; depicting traditional musical instruments and items, being crushed for a slick shiny 2-dimensional screened object - was in bad taste. Fair play to Tor Myhren, the Marketing Communications VP for executing swift action. However, for some in the #Web3.0 space, something more sinister has been detected. Apple, the bastion of creativity, design and innovation could not have gone against their central DNA blindly. Some anticipate this was Apple buttering themselves for the #Metaverse as their virtual headset; Vision Pro, will now sell beyond the USA. Others expect, Apple are positioning themselves for the #luxury market space, whilst #Blockchain enthusiasts, think the company were dipping their toes into #Tokenization. What strands and tentacles will unfold as marketing becomes more integrated in the future? 🚨 Regulatory Terror in the EU: Innovators Beware! 🚨 Imagine unveiling hundreds of groundbreaking features, only to be told you can't share them with millions of eager users. That's the reality for Apple as it navigates the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). Apple recently announced that exciting new tools like Apple Intelligence, iPhone mirroring, and SharePlay screen sharing might not be available in the EU this year. Why? The DMA's strict regulations on "gatekeepers" are putting the brakes on innovation, leaving tech giants like Apple and Meta in regulatory limbo. Apple's concern? The DMA's interoperability requirements could force compromises on privacy and security—core pillars of their products. As Apple's spokesperson Fred Sainz put it, "We are committed to collaborating with the European Commission to find a solution that would enable us to deliver these features to our EU customers without compromising their safety." Meanwhile, the EU spokesperson Thomas Regnier assures us that Europe remains an attractive market of 450 million users, welcoming any company that complies with its rules. But for now, the message is clear: Innovate at your own peril, especially if you’re in the EU. 💼🔍
