“Case for Support” – Fundraisers, how well do you know your organization’s case? Making a case can be done in any form of communication—not just designed brochures—including talking points, videos, slide decks, and proposals. But before you make a case in ANY of those ways, you have to know the fundamentals: 1️⃣ The problem 2️⃣ The solution 3️⃣ The outcome And those are just the bare bones. You also need to know: • How will the solution advance your organization’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan? • Why now? • How will you implement the solution? • What it will cost? • How a donor can play a role? • Why that donor should give to your org and not another? • What stories exemplify your past successes and demonstrate future promise? Answering these questions isn’t always so easy. That’s why we spend a lot of time with clients facilitating conversations to understand an organization’s answers before we ever start writing. The benefits of this process? Yes, a clear and persuasive case for support, but also: ✅ Staff and volunteers are in alignment and clear on the core messages. ✅ Working together across teams to advance the organization collaboratively. ✅ Clarity around answers that can’t be answered yet or need more discussion. The bottom line: Don’t begin your case by struggling to fill a blank page. Begin with the fundamental questions that need to be answered first. — 👉 Your turn: What is the most creative format you’ve seen used for a case? — Hi, I’m Emily, the president of #Weiswood Strategies. We create #philanthropy communications that empower fundraisers to close more 7-, 8-, and 9-figure gifts. We believe nonprofits should consider their brand as the top of the funnel for their organization and the central origin of all communication. ☀️ 👏 Interest: Cultivate engagement, interest, and excitement to attract potential advocates to engage with your organization. Your brand should not only excite and entice but also resonate with your core mission. It's about fostering genuine connections based on trust and shared values between your organization and your audience. 💸 Fundraising: Your brand serves as the gateway for potential donors and funders to contribute to your organization and continue their support. ❤️ Volunteers: People seek to be part of something larger than themselves and want to know that their time contributes meaningfully. A strong brand can embody these aspirations and serve as a symbol for individuals to proudly associate with. 🌈 Stakeholders: A robust brand simplifies communication of their work for stakeholders and enables deep engagement with your organization's cause. Let's strive to build a stronger foundation, starting with your organization's brand as the focal point of communication for the causes we believe in. Are you maximizing impact by investing in your organization's brand?💙 #Nonprofit #nonprofitbranding #nonprofitgiving #ImpactCommunity

Remember virtual events? Those things we did back in 2020 and 2021 when we had no other option? Well, they’re still a fundraising tool and a good one at that. They offer broad accessibility and the potential for unlimited attendance, making them a valuable engagement tool. While everybody may not love virtual events, they happen more frequently than you may believe. And I’m still seeing most events down about 20% in attendance from pre-pandemic levels. How are you engaging those folks that simply no longer attend in person events? I recommend doing one type of virtual event in your annual mix. What does that look like? It can be as simple as a virtual coffee with the CEO and the board chair, sitting there talking, having a candid conversation, and taking some Q&A from your donors. But by holding these virtual activities, we are extending that option and are ensuring that accessibility to our events is continuing. This tip comes from this month’s FREE webinar “Engaging Your Donors Online in 2023.” You can register for FREE via the link in my bio. #fundraising #nonprofits
