Marley Dickinson wrote the Camille Herron x Wikipedia article for Canadian Running.
He joined me today to talk about the whole scope of the article from how he first discovered the article to pursuing Camille for comment prior to releasing.
We go further than just this article and contemplate the value of jouirnalism in running as means of growing the sport.

What makes this story very interesting is the the why factor, right? Yeah. Is is the the athlete is one of the best in the world at what they do. And it just seems, you know, so like you just questioned after reading you're like, well, what you know, why would someone at this level, you do such a thing, right? And I think that's what makes something like this unique. She is the best in the world at what? She's what she's good at, she's great at and probably the best at. But it feels like just from my perspective that. What she's best at and what Courtney's best at, and then even what Kilian's best at, you know, those are three distinct circles. Maybe there's a cop, there's a crossover in all of that require endurance. But what where Camille looks, excels, I don't know that Courtney is going to be doing that. And point being, she is the best in a certain way. I think she doesn't like that. You have to get nuanced. To say, well, yeah, Courtney probably is the best, I'm rooting someday that it would be Katie Shide, but you know, Courtney's probably the best. But asterisk, look at what Camille can do at like legit long term endurance. She's great.
What a crazy story. I hope for Camille and her husbands sake that they can get help and turn things around in a positive direction. Competing at such a high level can lead to real mental and emotional instability, especially in such a grueling and demanding sport
For athlete Chris DiRienzo, the 80/20 method not only worked for him, he's doing both more volume and higher intensity work than he's ever done before. Wondering how he did it? Read on for Chris's story. ➡️https://lnkd.in/gy5vg7VF#marathontraining#endurancetraining#running
