Monday Momentum Minute Stepping into the first full week of 2025, let's focus on real impact and growth. This week, I want to highlight the importance of Science STAAR readiness for educators in Texas. Our STAAR Science Mastery Program isn’t just about checking boxes on a test. It’s about: • Providing TEKS-aligned resources that meet your students where they are. • Equipping educators with strategies to close learning gaps and accelerate progress. • Giving students the confidence to not just pass, but truly excel. This work is bigger than assessments; it’s about empowering educators to inspire mastery and delivering meaningful outcomes for students and districts alike. Let’s connect and explore how Summit K12 can partner with your school to achieve Science STAAR success. I’m here to collaborate and drive results. Call me directly at 469-927-9312 or Joshua.Johnson@summitk12.com, and let’s make it happen. #EdTech #STAARSuccess #ScienceEducation #SummitK12 #TexasEducators

We're hosting an online conference about uncertainty in education! You can apply to do a short talk. You can just participate in the discussions. You can apply to join our after-party where we are going to work on a statement paper based on our discussions or you can add to our annotated bibliography about uncertainty in education. Check out the details on our conference website. https://lnkd.in/gzn_QkBW When: July 16th-17th, 2024. Why: We think there are lots of reasons to be talking about uncertainty right now. 1. We're hearing from professional programs that students are struggling in their placements when asked to deal with problems that don't have right answers. They're struggling with uncertainty. 2. Those GenAI programs sure do seem to be getting all the 'right answer' problems right. People are going to be turning to them more and more. We think that we need more practice using our judgement. 3. We're not convinced that learning how to get answers 'right' is necessary good preparation for those situations where your values and your judgement are going to be necessary for making decisions. 4. Dealing with uncertainty in the classroom is more fun :). Why is the hashtag for this conference #shrugcon? There's a lot of uncertainty out there, the first step is accepting that you can't know everything.

🎈 Happy to share insights from my speech on my Balloon Theory of Learning at the inaugural #DSBsymposium! Key takeaways from the presentation include: Cognition: Enhancing understanding and the processing of new information. Ability: Developing skills to maximize learning potential. Epistemology: Building strong beliefs in one's intellectual growth and learning capacity. Emotions or Self-Regulation: Managing feelings to maintain a positive learning environment. Motivation: Fostering an inner drive to explore and discover. Ability to Communicate: Enhancing expression and interaction within the learning process. Balloon Theory is not just a learning theory; it's a dynamic framework for creating impactful educational experiences that extend beyond traditional classroom settings. 🌟 Let’s keep emphasizing metacognition, resilience, and the joy of learning to help our students’ potential reach new heights! #EducationInnovation #DSB #Metacognition https://lnkd.in/dHjhudh8

Never would have posted about competition. I saw its worth. Introducing QUARK-Global Assessments TM . (Quest for Understanding and Achieving remarkable knowledge) powered by Competency, Consistency and cComprehensiveness Founded by Dr. Mukesh Parankusam At #QUARK_global, we believe that classroom competition is just the beginning. To truly unlock potential, students need to go beyond. That’s why we’ve designed QUARK Assessments—an Olympiad-level competitive exam aimed at advanced high school learners. With two distinct exam patterns, we’re pushing the boundaries of learning: 1. The Three-Tier Series: A structured pathway from Basic to Advanced, challenging students progressively. 2. Global Olympiad: A platform where students compete on a global stage, showcasing their knowledge and application skills. Both exam patterns provide a comprehensive analysis of not just what students have learned but also how they learned it. Our mission is simple: Expand horizons, challenge the status quo, and recognize brilliance! Top performers will be honored with the prestigious title of ‘#Quark_Learner_of_the_Year’ #Education #Innovation #Olympiad #LearningBeyondClassrooms #QuarkAssessments #EdTech #CompetitiveExams #STEM #HighSchoolLearners

The efficacy-effectiveness pyramid! At last Friday’s packed Edtech Insiders webinar with David Dockterman, we explored how #evidence is in the eye of the beholder and how different stakeholders interpret evidence to meet their specific needs. 🤔We didn’t have enough time to address a common question among founders: Which type of study should be conducted at each given stage? ❓ The efficacy-effectiveness pyramid has generated a lot of questions. Is this what ESSA 2.0 will look like? Some thoughts on how #efficacy and #effectiveness studies could be integrated into a company’s evidence cycle from International Centre for EdTech Impact; WiKIT: https://lnkd.in/dcPmm2sR The key message is that efficacy and effectiveness can and should be combined. For a holistic understanding of educational #impact, we need both RCTs and sandboxes, qual and quant studies, co-design and experimental approaches. 🔉 Do you agree? What do you see missing in the pyramid? How do you combine different research methods in your #EdTech evaluations? David Hollow Dr. Rachel Schechter Dr. Kripa Sundar Meetal Shah, Ph.D. Chris L. Sunil Gunderia Philip Vahey Jenny Bradbury Evidencia EdTech And big thanks to Alex Sarlin and Jen Lapaz for hosting the webinar!
